I feel so cheap
:DSo today i was thinking of ways to boost my humidity in my 75 gallon because its too low. I thaought well why should i buy foil tape when i have foil and duct tape. So i duct taped the foil :8: and suprisingly it fits perfectly. My question to u is should i put the foil on bottom or duct tape on bottom. I rilly dont know so tell me what u think.

lol 25 views but no one has said anything

Re: I feel so cheap
It doesn't matter where you put the tape, BUT MAKE SURE THERE IS NO WAY YOUR SNAKE CAN BE IN CONTACT WITH THE TAPE!!!

Re: I feel so cheap
75 gallons seems way too big for a ball. just my humble opinion, though.

Re: I feel so cheap
actually its for my RTB but since they have the same humidity requirements i didnt think it mattered

Re: I feel so cheap
Noob question ahead ...
What's foil tape?
-
Re: I feel so cheap
its used on glass tanks with screen tops to help keep humidity up
-
Re: I feel so cheap
Personally, I would have just duct taped the foil onto the top of the tank as well. I would put the tape on the outside of the tank and wrap it over the lip of the screen top.

Re: I feel so cheap
ha, never thought of using foil tape... but that junk is expensive isnt it?

actually, its used on duct work and dryer vents to seal up any gaps to get the air where its suppose to be going.
if you smoke, light one up and hold it near your ductwork where there are joints. if theres any air escaping, foil tape it. i went through 2 rolls taping up our ducts but our gas bill also went down $15 or so a month.:)
duct tape sucks for this purpose so i have no clue why its even called that as it was made for guys in the army to seal ammo boxes.
my next snake is likely going to be a RTB. how are they compared to a BP?
-
Re: I feel so cheap
i have one of each and i love them both my RTB tends to be more adventerous than my BP but they are also bigger to. My BP usually finds a comfy position and takes a nap =]

Re: I feel so cheap
well all i did was put 2 layers of tinfoil down first on the top then 3 layers of duck tape .then cut 3 sides of a square about 8" long and wide folded it back

Re: I feel so cheap
I don't like using duct tape because if for any reason it does heat up significantly, it can melt. I like using aluminum tape because it transfers the heat directly, and I can be sure that isf I tape something up with it to hold heat in, I cant rip it like I could with aluminum foil. Its costs about $5 a roll, and that will do quite a bit for you. I also just like the convenience factor of it.

Re: I feel so cheap
The foil tape isnt that much around here. I think 5 or 6.00 at the local Walmart. One thing about putting just the tape over the screen lid, If thats what you were to do. Make sure the lid is a really fine screen. If the holes in the screen are big enough and, you use just the tape. The snake could get its nose, face close enough and maybe lick the tape. That would be bad.

Good point indeed, I don't cover my screen with it, I use 2 pieces of cork board cut to the shape of the screen, and are aluminum taped on one side. That way if I need to, I can switch it for a damp towel, or take it off for cleaning the screen and whatnot.

Re: I feel so cheap
I'm a noob!
What happens if a snake licks tape?
I bought these long fake vines and cut them in half which exposed that wire inside. I used black electrical tape to tape off the ends so the snake wouldn't get poked by the wire! Should I be worried? :(
Every post I read I start worrying about something, by the end of the day I'm going to broke from buying things to fix my worries and bald from the worries! :(

Re: I feel so cheap
there tongue will stick to it. I recommend covering the wire in hot glue it worked for me. cause tape can tear off scales
-
Re: I feel so cheap
Well I'll be damned! I'll have to change that over a few days. She is new here and I don't want to disturb her any more then I have.
