Re: Carnivorous Plants.
I love that pitcher plant. Beautiful.
Too bad, I'm like Jason. I have no talent for keeping plants alive for very long. I have the black thumb of DEATH for plants, which is why I have mostly plastic ones in my house.
Although I am trying for a garden this spring, so hopefully SOMETHING will grow.

Re: Carnivorous Plants.
Everytime I touch a plant it dies.
I've had some regular ol' venus flytraps, but never lasted.

Re: Carnivorous Plants.
Oh they are so pretty! I had a venus flytrap a for a while but when I was watching my aunts puppy it dug it up...so there went that:rolleyes:

Re: Carnivorous Plants.
This particular pitcher plant is super easy to grow, just give it the right soil mix, sit it next to a window or on a windowsill and water it every 3 days, these like to be watered alot. The only problem is you can only use pure water with carnivorous plants (rainwater, RO water, distilled) other than that, its really a simple plant to grow.

Re: Carnivorous Plants.
They are so awesome. I love carnivorous plants however I kill them so fast. My mother has a half green thumb, mine is black. I did manage to keep an air fern alive for a year though. :D

Re: Carnivorous Plants.
Heres another one, I would say this one is easier then the nepenthes to grow.
Sarracenia or North American pitcher plant. These are also very easy to grow.

I got most of these through trades, but you can find them at local garden centers/greenhouses. Some will carry them and some wont. You can also get them at lowes or home depot but they are usually not in the best of health. There are also online places that sell them.

Cool! the sundew was always my fave!

Re: Carnivorous Plants.
I try to keep plants that are on similar watering schedules i.e. once every 2 weeks, or once a month. Anything that needs more than that for watering I end up killing:( I was looking at a few of the same plants you have posted the other day, but quickly decided they would not survive under my care. Odd thing eh? I fuss over my bp and the cleanliness of his enclosure and water, yet I can't remember to water a plant....sigh.
Anyway, lovely pictures, and if you get any shots of your plants with flies in them, do share:) I used to feed my carnivorous freshly dead flies and they would close up and suck em dry! Before they all died that is...
