Re: Thief caught on my deck
They quickly go from cute to obnoxious. Those guys are incorrigible. My parents are into bird watching and it took them years to get the squirrels off their feeders. Beware, most "anti-squirrel" devices don't faze them!
It's not that we don't like looking at them... it's that they eat all the seeds... :(
Re: Thief caught on my deck
What wonderful pictures! They are so cute but they do wipe out the seeds.
Re: Thief caught on my deck
Awww, so cute! I have one of those type of birds as well. Sneaky booger, but I don't mind feeding him too. I think I might even get something special for mine.
Of course I have a special attachment to squirrels, as they were one of the first animals I worked with at the rehabilitation center. One of many mammals I got the honor of working with. :giggle:

Re: Thief caught on my deck
LOL at least you get squirrels! We woke up one lovely Saturday morning to two big ol' grayish brown city rats sitting on our bird feeder!

I'm not a member of the squirrel fan club. They're nasty little things. My cousin raised one up from a baby and it would chase me around the house and run up my legs and scratch me up. A friend of mine told me the squirrels in New York usually aren't afraid of people, and will show the same kind of behavior. I'd much rather look at harmless birds.
Re: Thief caught on my deck
I woke up to see a squirrel carrying a whole slice of pizza across my yard! They are always in the trash and they drive me nuts......and yeah, they are kinda cute.

Now I don't think squirrels make good pets, so I don't think it's fair to hold that against them. :P
I do have to admit that birds sound much nicer than the squirrels though. :)
Re: Thief caught on my deck
What a cute little theif!!! :D Great pics Deb!
Re: Thief caught on my deck
We have a great deal of jet black squirrels out here, they are kind of famous in Western Mass. I have two that are at my feeders daily.
Re: Thief caught on my deck
Just to be honest with you all. I prefer feeding the little tree rats rather than the evil creatures that always craps on my car everytime I wash it. I really think they look for white cars after eating poke berries to. I can say that I never have seen a squirrel up on the hood of my car leaving me alittle something, Unlike the other ungrateful animals that I am so willing to feed.
Re: Thief caught on my deck
If you're interested if you shoot a few of them they'll stop coming around. Sometimes...
