    Good bye Ballpython World! :(
I know what you are thinking. Another kid flaking out after owning ball pythons for a short time. It isn't like that at all. I was invited to work on a farm in Vermont this summer and it has been a dream of mine for a long time. After the summer I plan on hitchhiking across the country. So this is my farewell. I made a couple solid friends here, and some of them I actually left some gifts to. If anyone is interested in my travels I have a myspace devoted to it. myspace.com/mountainwonderer I will be transcribing all journal entries from my Travel Diary onto my myspace for the world to read. I will be using the site to let my loved ones monitor my whereabouts and know I am ok. I am also using it as my travel aid. If you want to suggest music or books while i am out then by all means. If you have a back yard that I can tent or a farm that needs some free labor than add me. If you want to read a genuine honest story of my life and my life changing decision then add me. I want to be friends with anyone who is interested in the cause.

So bye bye Ball pythion world. Ill be back in a few years. For now im into the wild.

Awesome. Have fun living out your dreams. Just don't end up starving in Alaska and trying to live off wild potato roots...

I think that it is WONDERFUL that you are brave enough to grab onto opportunity and dreams when they manifest! You will have a life altering experience and really good 'stuff' comes from life altering experiences!! I admire people who live their dreams!!
Be safe. Have fun. I will check into your space on occasion and get myself caught up on your travels. If you make it to Oregon, I'll let you know how to find us!
    Take care. Live a visionary's life. :)

Dunno where we'll be by the time you end up this way, but we have a yard in a northern boston suburb. If you need a place to set up, you're welcome to do it there (for a few days anyway, the neighbor is nosy and might complain to the landlord if you stay a long time - i'll even rake up the dog poop so you don't have to worry about land mines)

Take care of yourself - be safe!!!

Thanks for the support everyone. Most places look down on hitching but it isnt to big of a deal when its a college kid backpacking. I am an adventurous kid and I know I will be fine. haha I don't need a .45 Its that type of mentality that makes me scared to hitch in Texas. It will be hard to tell whos who and whats what so just add my myspace and when you see blogs of location changes to your area and see me in distress drop me a line. Either way I could use some book suggestions. Thanks again to everyone. Love and peace.

Don't know what type of books you like, but any book by Jodi Picoult is good - the first I read was My Sister's Keeper. All her books ALWAYS end with a "whoa! I didn't see that coming!"

I'm reading Nineteen Minutes now, which is loosely based on Columbine, but tells the story from the point of view of all sides, including the parents of both those who were killed and the parents of the teen killer.

I'm a thriller/mystery reader, Harlan Coben, Jonathan Kellerman, Faye Kellerman are all good authors too.

While I don't believe you have made a good decision, just out of fear for your safety. BTW, it wouldn't be safe to Hitch in Texas... About two months ago there was a guy sitting on the side of the highway with his lights on like he needed help.

He ended up killing several people with a shotgun, just whoever would come up to help him. Ack!

    Good Author:
Michael Crichton books are my favorite. Andromeda strain is alright, Sphere is awesome, Timeline, Airframe, Jurrasic Park.. you name it.. all of his books are on the edge of your seat scientific adventures. (Not really sci-fi)

edit: Murder is spelled with an R. This is what I meant to put "Murdered.

Wow; that sounds really interesting. Just be careful of the types of people that you ride with. I am not talking about stereotypes; I would rather say, go with your gut. Sometimes we have to rid ourselves of everything, to find something..

If you go through Ohio, try to hit Yellow Springs. Most of the 40-50 somethings here would probably swap hitchhiking stories with you :)

heyi also had to say good bye to my ball pythoning days... i really enjoyed being part of this community and owning a ball python (which i did for to years)

but when i finished hiskool i had to make some choices for myself and one of them was going to and intensive study skool overseas and i could not bring my snake with me. for his own good i gave him away rather than leave him at home for my family to take of (they werent so INTO the whole thing)

listen one thingsfor sure although i do feel guilty sometimes about getting involved on the first placeonly to "dump" him a few years down the line. i never regret it.never. it changed me as a person, not to mention showing my family, community and friends that i could be responsible enough to keep a complicated organism alive for 2 years ( trust me they did not beilieve i could do it)

saying all that you need to put urself ahead of your pet IMHO. obviously u have a responsiblity to give them the utmost care possible. but u need to live ur life...godspeed and have a safe trip

BTW just cause ur out doesn't mean u can't drop bye :-)
