What band that broke up made you sad?
I think about all the bands I dug and there have been a few that broke up that sorta bummed me out because they defined a time in my life. For me personally when the band "Faith No More" broke up finally, I admit I was very bummed out. Granted they weren't my favorite band, yet, they were unique. Plus, I discovered them at a time when I was getting more into music.

Hey! My husband is literally Mike Patton's #1 fan. He wishes that FNM were still together. But he also loves everything MP does; Bungle, Fantomas, Tomahawk, and (my favorite of his projects) Peeping Tom.
But it Does bite, that FNM called it quits. I hate it that they are mostly only known for their 2 "common" songs, Epic and Falling to Pieces. Their musical genius had waaaaaaay better manifestations!

Yeah, but Galder is the man. Btw, OMC > Dimmu Borgir. I thought old Dimmu was ok, but nothing that killed me. The best symphonic BM band is still Emperor.

They didn't really break up, per se. That band was just a one-album deal, as a tribute to Andrew Wood.

I'm kind of bummed out that Audioslave is done. I thought they were really discovering where they should be (3rd album is great).

    1. Dispatch... I never saw them live but I want more albums, and never got into the new thing they have going with a few of the members.

    2. The Pixies! Ok, so I wasn't alive to see them break up... But they're awesome, and they got back together, wrote a new song, and apparently played a kick*** show at Umass which of course I missed :'( All I want is for them to play one more show at Umass that I can go to!!! (They all went to Umass so their shows here are the best)

I knew it was a side project... I just didn't know who/what for...

Still counts! :neener: (kinda) But most of all cause I LOVE the stuff they did....

I completely agree with the SG finding themselves...

OK... here I go off topic: I was just thinking of the bands I COULDN'T see because a member (all of these front men) are dead... Blind Melon-Nirvana-Alice in Chains... :tears:

:whisper: I did hear that BMelon and Alice in C's both have new singers! No idea if it's true...

Yea, I do really like stone sour (honestly took me a few months to figure out it was corey), but I do love anything he does. (awesome voice!)
And I'm diggin the little stint he did with apocalyptica (sp?)

But the thrash crazy slipknot will be missed dearly :(

    The Spice Girls.

I had so much fun making fun of them while they were active that it was a real letdown when they admitted they were talentless.

And how I have missed seeing Posh stand around looking awkward and confused. Kinda like the little girl in the Partridge Family that would smile and rock, then occasionally slap her tamborine so as to remind you why she was there.

"Oh that's right, you are tamborine thumper #5!"

But if KMFDM ever called it quits, I would crawl into a pit full of broken glass and pull a blanket of asbestos over me and go to sleep.

Oh! I thought of one that irks me.

When linkin park decided to "pursue harder rock"

I was in love the original style, and I think shinoda's style was awesome. Too bad chester is the only front man now (whining). :(

I'm with ya... I'm really not feeling their newer stuff. I don't have any of their CD's... but just stuff I hear on the radio seems to be getting a tad bit generic...

I'm a huge Sevendust fan, but all their newer stuff is sounding like the same thing over and over... The first time I listened to the CD, I knew exactly when the drummer's back up vocals were coming... tad predictable... :(

I can only imagine how hard it must be to maintain a unique "Sound" with out becoming repetitive....

The new sevendust? I had no idea it was out yet. I was hoping it was better than the last few. I like a few of songs, but I wasn't into the whole disk ya know?

They might have a "newer" one due to come out... I'm guilty of not following stuff like that too much... The last "new" one I heard was like you said.... a few songs were good, but nothing "got" me....

I'm not trying to ruffle feathers here, but RATM to me was never anything amazing, great or even average IMO. The only thing I think was good about them was Tim the bass player. As for Tom, gah, he's a horrid guitar player. You don't have to be technical, but the riffs he plays are basically the same ones I was playing when I first started playing guitar about 12 years ago.

I just know that Audioslave is probably the worst collaboration of talented musicians in the history of mankind.

Putting steak and ice cream in a blender would Audioslave's culinary equivalent. I did backflips when I heard that they broke up.

You think tom is horrible? Man, you have issues. It's not the difficulty of his music that makes him great, it's the innovative guitar playing. RATM has no DJ, even though a lot of their songs sound like it.

Innovative? He would play 2-4 notes for the main riff. His guitar solo would involve him unplugging his guitar and hitting the tip of the cable against the bridge and he'd turn his wah-wah on. I made those noises on accident. Not very innovative to be honest.

But could you re-create those same accidents over and over and over?

Just because someone isn't technical doesn't mean they aren't talented and what is noise to some is art to others.

I don't really "get" why people listen to new hip hop with all the computer generated beats and off the wall song themes, but it doesn't warrant me going after the people that appreciate it...crazy or bad or annoying as it may be...

I'm just saying he isn't very innovative. I'd like to hear RATM without the bass player. Tim I think gave them a fuller heavier sound. I watched RATM on MTV about 10 years ago playing in Mexico. I was actually laughing at him doing a guitar solo and how beyond easy his riffs were. Plus, the tunes had the same vibe of hit a single note really hard while the drummer goes berserk on the cymbal.

I concur. I'd get a whipping if I said this in front of the BF,.... RATM never did anything for me and I don't like them at all except for maybe one or two songs. :confuzd:
