New Shop Starting to Shape up..... DUW

Happy Easter all.....

I just got back down to FL after being up in Ohio all last week. My wife and son flew up last sunday and I drove a 26 foot uhaul pulling her car with the two dogs all the way up. I got the keys to the new shop and while its still a mess, keep in mind that its a work in process:D Mostly business junk, some personal junk, still unorganized.....

I'm down in Florida for the next few weeks finishing up the breeding season and will head up that way with the animals sometime in April. I'm hoping to move everything before I get any eggs, move them gravid, set them up, collect the eggs and call it a good year.....

thats awesome, were working on getting the same thing. although i will be welding all the racking up for about 3-4months. Were just waiting loan approval. Congrats man and good luck!:gj:

thats a great lookin entrance way! call me crazy but i think your a little light on the rack side lol. i didnt know there was hillbillies in cleveland. well just look at it like this if she ever throws you out you got a place to bathe in :rofl:. its too bad im not closer or i would offer you a hand. i cant wait to get some time to make a visit.

Thanks Everyone, yes wolfy I'm moving, you missed the old thread? Don't worry, I'll still be attending the tampa shows as well as FIRE and Daytona each year.....

I'm a bit short on racks up there as they (snakes) are still sitting in their homes here in FL. I've got a 17 passenger van that we are going to load with racks, bag all the animals then place them back in the tubs inside the van. I'm then going to use my truck and trailer and drive all the racks ups behind my father in law in van.

The sink is a mans sink, no children allowed in the mans sink, not once, not ever....... It actually reminded me of the old municiple stadium the browns used to play in when I lived up in Ohio. Trofts attached to the wall that groups of drunk old men would pee in together:D TV's were in the John, every now and then you'd even see hi 5's exchanged over a good play, it now seems rather disturbing.........

Is it one large room, or multiple rooms?

Congrats on the Shop...it's just beautiful! You'll haft to get pix after everything's all set up! Just remember all the hard work will pay off :D

Basically one large room, I'm trying to get an additional 32 x 64 foot unit behind my current spot as well for rodents and storage and of course more snakes that are inevitable.....

The main doors open to a "common area" with the bath room at the end of the hall. My door is then on the left and within the large room is a decent sized bath room as well as a small storage room with the furnace.

Sounds like its gonna work out quite nice. Gonna have any problems with the front door and the snow like temps???

I hope it pays off, moving is not cheap......

$1800 for the uhaul
$800 in gas
$225 for one way plane ticket for andrea and ethan
$200 for one way plane ticket for me to get back to FL
$4,000 a year pay cut for Andrea:mad:
$200 a week for daycare
I still have a total of 6,000 more miles of driving to finish the move (estimate gas at $3.30 @ 12 miles a gallon with trailer) = $1,650
5 more hotel nights

Plus who else knows what.......

The new place is in North Royalton Ohio, just outside Cleveland. Its where Andrea and I both grew up and went to High School.

Heating should not be a huge problem. I've got a the highest efficency heater you can buy in there was well as a humidifier, the building is insulated very well and I'm hoping my gas bill is under 2 or 3 k a month:D

You will be close enough that we may have to drive up and take a look around! Ralphs place is the only big breeders place I have seen so far. I am hoping to get a chance and get down to Florida some time and actually meet Michael Cole and see his facility as he has been a major help to us. When I was a Ralphs I was as tempted as a kid in a candy store to pull out my credit card and max it out! :colbert:

what you needed to do is go bigger and actually spend the money. Thats how I broke my wife originally...... Spent 36K in one day, she saw the invoice, coughed and said as long as the bills are paid, we have a roof over our head, don't ever show me anything like that again:D

Neil it's funny you mention that... I was at a game at that old stadium with my dad when I was really young... the time when Art Modell decided he was moving the Browns to Baltimore!
I went to go to the bathroom and when I walked in everyone had their arms around each other standing in front of these troughs singing some crazy song ending with "Art Modell is a horses ass"... I will never forget that! I'm glad you're a Browns fan too..
The facility looks awesome and hopefully if it's cool with you I can come visit and check everything out. Good luck with all the moving around!

Huge browns fan, thick and thin, always have been always will be..... I was at the last game in the old stadium and actually helped carry out bleacher seats with family. Several of my uncles still have those seats in their basements..... We even recruited a security guard to help us break one free as we told him he was with us or against us and the seats were coming home with us.....

Pitsburg fans are welcome, however those wearing browns apparel will get a discount :D Once I'm setup and ready for people, I'll post here and invite everyone up.....

Sounds good! Was that game against Green Bay? That's the one I went to right before their move to Baltimore... I was really young at the time so I wasn't stealing seats but I wish I had one! You'll never catch me in any Steelers apparel... Only thing I ever liked in Pittsburgh was the Penguins cuz I love to play hockey!!

I guess I shouldn't mention what a huge Steelers fan I am and how we have beat the Brownies both games the past two years? I promise I won't wear any Steelers gear or wave the Terrible Towel around you Neil, but I won't ever be caught dead in the nasty brown and orange. (On the other hand, you would have a great time with my fiance who is a huge Browns fan.)

Looks nice Neil! So, having never had a shop myself, lol - is this commercial space that you rent? If so, how do they normally react when you explain your business? How much modification do you generally have to do for the wiring for the electrical?

It can be an interesting dance trying to get space. Down here in FL I had a hell of a time. I was always honest, "I'm going to have a thousand plus snakes here and several thousand rodents at any given time" I'd wait for a response and then get "I'm sorry but this will not work out"

In ohio, my father in law is one of those guys that know everyone within a 500 mile radius of his front door. At 8:30 pm one night I was explaining my issues with actually moving. The primary being space to rent. He called me back by 8:15 the next morning had this space. The building is owned by his insurance agent for the last 27 years and I went to high school with his son. I explained everything I would be doing and he no problem with it at all, AS long as his grandson could come tour the place after I was set up as he loves snakes.

Electrically I did not have to anything here. I use back heat rather than belly which is a lot less total wattage. As long as I've added everything up correctly I should be fine with the 20 amp circuits already in place.

I'm in Rocky River till July, not to far from your new place...... would love to come see when all is said and done!
