Is it worthwhile to get this since I only have 13 balls and 2 boas? Right now, each snake has their steno pad into which I write the date and record feeds, poos, in blues, sheds, and anything of interest.

Do you keep note cards (or something) by the tubs and then transfer the info into the database? Is it worth the extra (perhaps redundant) step?

    Thanks for the info Jo!

no it prints off check lists of every thing from feeding requirements to cleaning schedules.
it is the mere step of checking feed or not size and type of prey. It keeps track of everything and can print reports, cage cards, it is really every thing a herper could want.

Makes life so much easier if you want to breed or keep a collection larger than 10-12. :gj:

I use Metzcal but also have used Herp Care. Metzcal it's very complicated the first time but once you get used to it you'll find that it is not that hard.

I'm not sure if it will run on Mac, but Damon's customer service is great, just send him an email, he'll answer that for you.

This is really, really great software, and even works quite well on Mac OS X.2 running Virtual PC with Win2K. HerpHelper (Degei) has just about any feature one could want, including feed, expense, breeding & inventory reports, a feeder "pull list," photos & clutch tracking for breeding projects & individual animals both, and FABULOUS customer service from a fellow herper. Damon has been wonderful at answering my plethora of questions (even the "dumb" ones) and his personal experience as a herp keeper lends itself to making this one of the most well-rounded pieces of herp software available today. I love it. I use it. I highly recommend it! - Kara L. Glasgow - NERD, Inc.
Based on that review, it doesn't sound like it will run on the native Mac OS, but I would still recommend contacting him to be sure...

My wife has fallen in love with the trial and we will be getting the full version once we figure out what happens if the computer that it is running on crashes. We see the back up feature for the files which allows us to save that info to a CD or back up hard drive, but how do you load the software again and get full rights to it? Also how would it work if you changed computer systems?

OK, I'll be the first to ask; Anyone know of any Herp software that runs on Mac OS X without Windows emulation...in other words...Mac native? :please:

No, I do not. Honestly, boot camp is the ultimate solution for the problem. While it is not running "native" under mac os, it IS running native on the mac hardware. One complaint though, I can't get the dang keyboard on the power book to light up when it's running windows. I bet apple left that out of the driver on purpose. :colbert:

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Unless your Mac isn't an Intel Mac... :(
Thanks for the help anyways. ;)
