weight vs size
I've noticed everyone seems to put a ton of emphasis on the weight (in grams) of their balls in order to tell how healthy, or what size they are. These numbers to me are pointless because I have no frame of reference, for instance I know about how big a hatchling is (~100g = 14-18inches or darn close). But just for reference purposes, could someone please post pics of....say a ~100g next to a dollar bill, then do the same "next to a dollar bill" kind of reference shot for a ~250g, ~500g,~750g and so on, just for those of us who do not have any reference points.

My 1200gram male Akua with a dollar... (not the best pic of him but you get the idea)

hes currently making it difficult for me to pop my neck =D

Re: weight vs size
That's a fantastic snake, and a perfect example of why normals are my favorites :) Mine has a similar, "less is more" pattern.

Re: weight vs size

Re: weight vs size
It's not a dollar, but here's my @325g girl with a 50watt lightbulb box:

She was around 8 months old and probably around 28-30" at the time.

Re: weight vs size
OK, heres a few pics for comparison. The first pic is a 125g female who still needs a name. Any suggestions?

Jess @ 550g

The next 2 pics are of the same snake and taken at the same time, but she looks bigger in one, so thats probably why its better to use weight when describing a snake than judging the pic with a $1 bill :P It all depends on the angle of the pic, placement of the $1, and how the snake is posed...
Beyonce @ 950g

Click on the pics to enlarge. I cant figure out how to get them to show up full size in the post so pm me if you do!

This was when she was at around 449 grams.

It was my money shot but has the size reference in it also!

Re: weight vs size
Corrupter, you bring up an excellent point. I can see How weight is better measure than actual physical size. thanks for the pics of a such a gorgeous snake!
Glory.....wow, that's a beautiful animal! Just a single dollar bill would've been sufficient, but I'll never argue with a whole pile of fifties! lol!

Re: weight vs size
Not all snakes will put their size on the same either, there can be physical differences in length vs. weight ratios. Some are VERY solid healthy snakes but don't nearly have the length, and then I have some real healthy proven breeders that are very long but not nearly as girthy.
I believe age also has a role in how balls put on weight and growth, many of my younger snakes have put on girth way before they start to put on length. And again, some of my yearlings at about 500-600 grams start to put on length and then start to fill out with girth.
They really are ALL individual, but I like the idea of getting a "general" scale of things. I'll shoot some photos when I get home tonight.:gj:

True true true.
My male akua is a beefy lil thing... when he is not growing more length... my small male Hasani is long and lean... and 2 of my girls are long and lean while one is short and stout =D hahaha

I actually got a check the other day that I cashed and was going to have Vincent rolling in a bunch of hundred dollar bills. I know how nasty money is though, so I didn't. Seriously though, this is a nasty reference, but when it comes to putting snakes on money, your would be safer wiping your self after a restroom break and rubbing him on that. Money is n-a-s-t-y!
What if someone posted a 500g male that was shorter than a 400g female? Then you'd still have no reference.

Haha, I noticed that too.

Re: weight vs size
I was just looking for a ball park reference, I mean there is an obvious difference between a 1000g and a 500g snake. that's all I was aiming for an estimate.:D
