    Calico/Sugar Opinions
Just kinda want to see what everyones opinions on the calicos are. Besides way expensive! Are they not very common and thats why you hardly ever hear about them? Or are they just so subtle in a low white that nobody has chosen to work with them?

What do you foresee there price doing?

And as always if you have one and want to show off some pics they would be greatly appreciated.

And last but not least would they be an animal you would add to your collection?

I am a big fan of sugars and calicos. I love what you can do with them, and I love those high white sides. Pretty much been a fan since Tinley, seeing the "dreams" in person was just awesome.

I adore them! High whites with that crazy orange...Gorgeous.

And just thinking about the crosses can make you nuts. I am excited to see what Next World Exotics (Jon) comes out with.

I think they will be a great animal to work with. The possibilities, like most morph combos, are endless!

Are there several different lines of them too? Thought I read somewhere that one was more orange and the other was more normal looking with white sides.

There are different lines, but I'm not sure who had them first, or who has what. Most of the large breeders have them in some form.

I think Morton Wright has some AWESOME calicos... His are high orange. VPI, TSK, NERD, NWE all have them too. (I'm sure I'm forgetting some...)

Wow, those are smoking hot! Seems that i really am not the only one that loves this morph. Still cant help but stare at those pics. I really dont get why they are still so expensive though, can understand the high white examples but very few are what a person would consider great and they are still super expensive. Especially for a dominant morph. But this is definately gunna be on my to get list soon.

And is there really a difference between a sugar, calico, or the bubblegum? or just different names from different people that made them.

    Re: Calico/Sugar Opinions
Calicos are still VERY rare in collections. The other reason low whites are still expensive is that they poduce high whites, just like piebalds. There will be some price difference in low vs high whites, just like in piebalds, but not much. To me Calicos are cheaper than they should be... Very few of us have breedable animals... Plus we still have no idea if there is a super form and the only thing they have been crossed with so far is a pastel. It is a very new and exciting morph!

Sugars are a European line, they are the nicest in my opinion. Problem is a lot of people in the states are calling theirs Sugars to sell they better... TSK , Pete K and Doug Beard are the only ones that i know of who have produced Sugars so far.

The Bubblegum was 1 particular animal that Ralph brought in from africa (she passed away from liver failure) so really there is no bubblegum line... just another marketing stategy...

    Thanks Jon,

Have learned more this afternoon than two days worth of searching about them. Is anyone still trying to prove out the super form or has it pretty much been given up on?

Just think a sugar mixed with one of the following...

    Clown
    Albino
    Lesser
    Mojave
I am sure I could go one but don't want to drool anymore on my keyboard :D

    I got one even better.

    White smoke Calico
    or
    LA Calico

    Mmmmm purple and yellow

I will have to agree on the Lesser calico.
Those white sides may just have an interesting effect on the lesser gene

It has not been given up on at all... There were only 3 eggs from the line i work with that hatched 1 Calico and 2 Normals not a clutch i would count on...

And there were 5 eggs in Tracy's clutch, dont know the details on those.

TSK, Tracy , Dan Wolfe and a few others will have Calico x Calico clutches...

Only down side is, there is a difference between lines... one may have a super one may not. We shall see!

It's all in the Mix.... I'd like to see what the pied gene does with a Sugar... Also aren't Sugars and Calico's pretty much the same thing and the Bubble Gum was one with a possible mix in it??

Calicos and Sugars are very similar, like a Mojave to a Butter. Bubblegum was the name of 1 particular snake. But we are unsure of the super form of either... that will show if there is a bigger difference

ah I see, so it could be more like a lesser and a butter then a mojave and butter. I've been in this game to long to assume that much though.

Does anyone have any pictures of the lesser calico, or any of the other crosses? I beleive that they are priced reasonably eventhough they are a dom or a co-dom trait, though it has not been proven which, but it is defenitely not resesive. I beleive they will go down when more of them hit the market. These are one of the more exciting morphs today and great potential.

Question: I thought in pieds it was random how much white they produced?

Think what he meant is a low white can produce high white not a for sure so it is random like pieds
