First Time Tagged...with Pics

Yesterday was feeding day and I was weighing my biggest girl. I picked her up off the scale and next thing I know I'm being bit. Luckily I didn't see her strike or else I think I would have dropped her. Well anyway, here's the pics my room-mate took. I'm oddly proud of it...my first time being bit...and it was my biggest girl...at least I know that it couldn't be any worse...lol

I've never seen her exhibit any form of aggression before. In fact, I consider her one of my most docile and easy-going snakes. I'm pretty sure that I was just mistaken as food.

How big is she? I know the first one that is going to tag me is going to be one of our big girls and I just want an idea of the damage a 1800 gram or 1600 gram girl does.

She's a solid 1500 grams. Yes it hurt (like I could feel the teeth in my finger..) but it wasn't excruciating or anything like that. The shock of being tagged was much worse than the actual bite. :D

Welcome to Bite Club! You know you're a real herper when you get bit and the first thing you think to do is yell..."quick somebody grab a camera!" :D

there is a 7 foot coastal carpet at the pet store by me that i wanted to hold and the lady wouldnt let me, because it has shown signs of aggression... and i told her i would be honored to get bit by that snake...
she looked at me like i was wack (i prolly am) but its the truth haha

Let us know if you bruise tomorrow. I'm new to BP's, but back when I was 18 (I'm an old fart now) I got tagged by my 7+ ft. Boa, and he bit me right in the face (does that mean I too am in bite club?). It didn't hurt that bad...I was mostly shocked at what happened. But when I woke up the next morning the whole side of my face was bruised badly...I actually looked like I had been in a bad bar fight. Try explaining to your coworkers that your snake bit you when they joke that you lost the fight! :oops:

Too bad there were no digital camera's back then...in the stone-age... :rofl:

I'm pretty lucky - with all the snakes we have I've only been tagged once and that was through gloves so it wasn't anything more than a paper cut (heck those hurt worse!) Since I've posted this, this means of course, every snake we own will now consider it a personal challenge to sink their teeth into me in the coming days! :rofl:

I'm ancient too Kerig. I remember back before there were VCR's! How did we ever survive LOL.

Only my pinky fingered bruised, and even then it wasn't really that significant. In the face!!! Wow! :bow:

Jo, you better knock on wood after saying that! About an hour before the bite occured, my room-mate was feeding her snakes and one of them struck at her. I said "Can you believe that neither one of us has gotten tagged yet? A year of ball pythons and 12 snakes between us...you'd think one of them would have gotten us by now..." lol

Yeah I know, dumb thing to post and me with a number of grumpy breeding females and hopefully eggs to pull them off of soon. I better brace for the chewing on Jo to happen LOL.

The worst part is I was holding him just as my mother asked me "are you sure you want to sell him?", and then I replied "Yes Mom, my car needs new tires.". Next thing I remember was a very hard slap to the face. Guess I was asking for it... ;)

I still know the name of the first tv show I ever saw in color! LOL Remember the first "remote controls"...huge box things with a cable everyone tripped on connecting them to the tv (or even further back when remote control meant making the kids get up and manually change the channel for mom or dad :rofl:)

I don't know if congratulations is the right word, but it does seem to be the most fitting. Also, I wanted to comment on your above statement. It can definitely get worse. They worst bite that I have sustained to date came from a 150 gram hatchling Het Hypo female. She lunged out of the tub, bit me in the web of skin between the thumb and forfinger, and proceeded to chew the skin and conctrict on my wrist. I had no idea that when they held on, their jaw pressure was so great, and she decided to impart pain for a full 15 minutes before letting go. I had plenty of teeth marks and a bruise for over a week. It was easily twice as painful as a strike from my 2000+ gram girls.

I am not trying to scare anyone, but just relay one of my experiences.

i get bit daily from my baby carpet, im so used to it now i dont even think about it, he's slowly giving up on it :)

A 150 gram hatchling! Oh no, here I was thinking that the little ones couldn't do much damage....Well at least I got my first bite out of the way.

Ouch! I honestly hope I never get bitten.

Way to go getting the camera right away! This is why I don't do anything but feed on feeding day. My bp is the most food aggressive out of my snakes, western hoggie gets second place ribbon:)
