Went to the Zoo
Here's a few shots from the zoo today. Hopefully you guys and gals will enjoy them.

The only thing that kept bothering me was all the people bumping me. The kids were nuts and the parents didn't really care. Sucks that I would ask people for permission to take a quick shot or two but others weren't as nice. They'll just have the kids run right in front without saying sorry or something.
But other than that, I loved it. I was really impressed with the Gaboon. My favorite snake but I've never seen it in person. Incredible. It's so short, thick and beautiful. And what a head!
:O
All I kept thinking about was how big are it's fangs and how lethal it is. A machine I tell you. Stunning.

Awesome pics!!! That gabby is beautiful...a dangerous love to have;)

Re: Went to the Zoo
Great pics! I'll be taking the kids to the zoo soon, too. Mine are pretty well behaved, though :)

Re: Went to the Zoo
nice pics. I agree, the gabby is a dangerous love to have, but they are "drop dead" gorgeous. Sux that unruly kids were ruining your zoo trip. Thanx for sharing those gorgeous pics.

Re: Went to the Zoo
They didn't ruin it as far as me having fun and spending some good time with that Gaboon and the other reptiles. They only really bothered when they would just run into the shot or bump you and stuff. When I wasn't worried about taking pictures, I just stood there admiring these incredible creatures.
The pictures don't do them JUSTICE. In person, they're very impressive. The Cobra and Gaboon are just incredible.
Overall, it was a fun trip. I just wish I had more of a "ME" time with these animals and I would've liked to take a lot more pictures, but I'm sure I'll have another day.

Re: Went to the Zoo
Amazing photographs! You've got quite a talent with a camera!
I love the reptile house at our zoo here in Toledo. They have two Gabby's and I could watch them for hours (as well as drool over all the other gorgeous snakes they have).
One thing you might try is phoning your zoo's public relations/main office/visitor information office. Ask them for the day and hours that are normally the least high traffic at their zoo. That should help you have a more quiet experience and get more great pictures. :)

I never thought about that one. That's great advice!

Canon S5 IS. I just started taking pictures so I'm FAR FAR AWAY from being Pro. The S5 is no where near a DSLR which I'll be buying sometime this year. Maybe the Canon 40D.
But for practice, the S5 is pretty good. One thing though, in LOW LIGHT situations, it lacks. That's where you'll get mad with the camera. But if you give it enough light then it can take some really nice pictures.

It looks like you were in the enclosures with the animals! Those are amazing pics!

Thanks!

Some more of the pics are on this thread. I really didn't want to toss them in here. Check it.
If anyone is from Florida, can you guys tell me of a nice place I can swing by to check out some snakes? I'm in Miami, but my vacation is coming up. I'd like to get out of here if possible.

Re: Went to the Zoo
I wish the Zoo near me had snakes you could see :\
They have only a few snakes but you're not allowed to get close and they only do 1/2 hour show once a day with them. Boo.
PLUS there are no good reptile orianted pet stores around here either.
