Flexwatt

I'm planning on building a new cage for my two bp's (kinda a one on top of the other, and the fronts open up). I am looking at using flexwatt, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me everything I would need to use flexwatt in a cage.

Also, if anyone could tell me anything I should know abou using flexwatt and how to use it, because I have never even seen it in real life, so any information would greatly help.

I also can't find anywhere to find plexiglass or melamine. Can anyone give me any ideas of where to get this stuff?

Try a Home Depot or similar, for the plexiglass. My husband got some there for his computer case. :)

As for flexxwatt, I have no experience with it as of yet, and hope to learn more before my husband builds me the rack. :)

Flexwatt is just a thin strip that you plug in and it heats up put it under the tubs on one side to create a hot side supposed to be around 92-90 and then the other side will be cooler so your snake can balance his body heat. doesnt give you a very good idea so just look at this https://www.reptilebasics.com/4-Flex...e-p-16248.html thats a piece of flexwatt

I got my plexi glass from a local glass store in my area.

If you're building wood cages, I would heat them with radiant heat panels. www.pro-products.com has them

You just mount them on the ceiling of the enclosure on the warm side, plug them into a thermostat and there ya go. Very efficient heating and no risk of electrocution :)

the heat pannels sound like a really good idea, but at $65 each, it's kinda expensive.

Does anyone have any other suggestions as to how to heat my pet's cages. Remember I'm tryng to build something with one cage on top of the other, so I'm trying to heat the cages equally and evenly.

Flexwatt will not heat the cage - it will heat a portion of the floor of the cage.

A radiant heat panel or a che will do a better job of actually heating a cage.

If you are going to use flexwatt (even in a cage) your ambient temperatures will depend heavily on the temperature of the room the cage is in.

even if I use two flexwatt strips, one on each side with different thermostats? Really, I don't think I could afford to spend that much money and still buy materials to build the cages. I really don't want to have to use lights on top of the tanks either.

If this is all to expensive for you, you might want to reconsider.
