    corn doesn't eat
    Hi.

My baby corn(3-4 month) isn't eating since 3 weeks now, whenever i try to give him a pinkie he doesn't eat it.
I give him about 1 hour to eat it before i take it away.
I feed live and in a seperate container.
He was a good eater before that.

    What can i do?

bad shed or bad tank conditions? my two guesses lol. but don't worry too much (for now) as snakes can go a longgg time without food.

    Hi,

No problems with the shed - eyecaps etc come off o.k?

What are the temps at the moment and have there been any changes lately?

Yeah perfect shed in one piece, caps came off.
No mites or anything and temps are 28-31 degress celsius.
I have another cornsnake in that terrarium and it eats fine.

    Hi,

Do you mean you have two snakes in the same tank?

What sizes and sexes are they?

2 corn snakes in a 100 gal tank :O.The poor thing is probably freaked out by all the extra open space. Its a baby try placing it in a 10gal with a couple hides then try to feed it after 5 days of not bothering it.Only to change the water bowl.If this fails let us know and we can help you from there :gj:

You really need to put those snakes in their own tanks/tubs. Maybe a 10gal for the little one and a 20long for the other. You never really need anything bigger than a 20L as it is, even for adults.

I know someone else who insists, despite my info against it, on keeping three corns of different age and sex all together in a 29 gal tank 'because she sees they can be kept that way fine in the store'.
It doesn't matter that I tell her stores don't keep their snakes for more than a few months, and most stores don't know jack about snake keeping anyway... she persists in it. Even though the snakes are getting bigger, the smaller one is starting to refuse food (she feeds them in deli cups), and the bigger one is chasing the other two... she just thinks they're playing.

Snakes are not social creatures, with the exception of garter snakes in spring. One tank = one snake. Period. Unless you don't mind all the problems that come with multi-housing such as never knowing who made the sickly looking poo or one snake chasing the other(s) to stress deaths. Extreme examples, I know... but they can happen. Both your snakes should look and act better once you give them their own homes. :) Good luck!

Yeah ok i understand that and want the best for my snakes so i am gonna do it.
But,would it be that bad to keep the big one in the 50Gal. cause i just don't see the point in throwing a perfect 50gal. away or selling it for cheap.

To Germany?? And you DON'T want to get a smaller tank? :)

I would think it would be a lot easier to get those two into smaller tanks, or possibly tubs, for transport ease and sell the big tank to try and get some money back for the new stuff. :) You COULD technically keep the bigger one in that tank, as long as you had plenty of hiding spots to help it feel secure, but I would think smaller tanks would be easier to move and care for. But that's just me. :)
