Thread on Reptilicious.com
Just wanted to give people a heads up about this person who used my images without permission to create a thread that was pretty pointless, IMO. Makes me not want to even post updated images of my offspring or collection. Time to start watermarking the photos, at any rate.
http://www.reptilicious.com//showthr...8.html?p=37354
Hopefully he won't distribute any other photos that don't belong to him... keep an eye out!

As one of the owners of reptilicious, i have removed the images in that post as requested by rapture.

Oh no, it was never the intention of the blame to be posted on the forum. You did right by removing the images...
It is about the person, not the forum. :gj:

Noone is blaming you. You can't always control the stupidity that comes out of someones fingers.
You did the right thing by removing them. :gj:

LOL! What a joke!!
By the way, the staff at Reptilicious.com has been nothing but helpful to me in this situation. Watermarking my images had crossed my mind before, but now I will definately be doing so. Thanks everybody!

Re: Thread on Reptilicious.com
I read the post on fauna as well as his site and this guy seems like bad news. I never really thought about watermarking my images either but now I might consider it.

Re: Thread on Reptilicious.com
What I find highly amusing is that Snowballs tag line is "Often imitated".
Great catch Heather!

Let me shed a little light here...I am Matt Lerer and my company name is Ghi Reptiles  just a plug.
Tim has been harassing me for almost 5 years now because he got busted ripping me off and has been basically thrown out of the US herp industry for his actions leading up to and following his scam. Kevin is one of my best friends and so is Kara and a couple of years ago Tim started going after my friends when he realized his attacks on me were easily dismissed.
He filed false complaints against myself and Tony Nicoli...another very close friend...just to try and get us in trouble with the state for having venemous animals in our homes that we never even had. I had a long talk with them and the state said they will take it up the state of Ohio (where Tim lives) if he files any false reports again.
So in a nutshell he is still up to his same old tricks of stealing, scamming, and trying to screw with people at the expense of others. I appologize to Diana because his thread was directed at me as I have a trio of animals which slightly resemble your female and they are 07' imports that I hope are genetic. I post pics of them and these are his replys:
Quote:
Normal.
I showed these pics to several breeders today. They all said the same thing. Normals
The UK forum he is on is a great forum with no problems, really nice members, and a great atmosphere, and it sucks he is pulling his act on them since they don't know about him...not a cool thing to do :colbert:
-
Re: Thread on Reptilicious.com
Matt~ Thank you for sharing. I'm sorry that Tim is doing this against you and people you care about. I care a great deal about Kevin and Kara and was pretty disappointed that someone would post things that were so hurtful and could very much hurt their business should someone read it and not know about the integrity of Kev, Kara and NERD. Try as I may, people continue to be my greatest source of disappointment....guess that's why I have so many animals! Again, thank you for sharing this painful history... Tim must just be a petty tyrant- no more, no less.....
-
Re: Thread on Reptilicious.com
Matt, no apologies necessary. There are people out there who are going to do dumb things no matter what anyone else does. I would, however, love to see pics of the imports you mentioned. :)
-
Re: Thread on Reptilicious.com
Hey Diana...e-mail is on the way.
-
Re: Thread on Reptilicious.com
We also had problems with Tim aka Snowballs on a forum where I am a moderator at. Matt is also aware of this as Tim tried to make Matt out to be a little less than upstanding.
I am glad to see that everything was taken care of D and you will have to help me out on that watermarking thing.

Re: Thread on Reptilicious.com
I think that's actually the first thing he does when he joins a new forum. I have heard from so many mod's on so many forums regarding what he pm's them about me that it would make your head spin. Did you know that I was the second gunman on the grassy knoll? Neither did I...
I don't know why he would want this but he told someone that he wants to be the most famous person in the reptile community...even if it means being the most dishonest and most disliked. I think instead he is probably the most forgotten since he has been banned from about 20 or so forums though...

Re: Thread on Reptilicious.com
Whoa, sorry to hear about someone stealing your images Diana, more so with a questionable motive.

Re: Thread on Reptilicious.com

Unfortunately, it might be a necessary evil... talking to Rapture last night about the different known cases of "image theft"... I might be water marking some images, or at least some of my art work...
Thanks a lot Mr. "I help my self to other people's pictures then act like they're mine"... :zerb:
EDIT: Forgot to give Heather some more props for the I-SPY work! :)

Maybe there should be a sticky on how to watermark piccies? i`ll also put it up on reptilicious, only prob is i dont know how to watermark pics lol

Re: Thread on Reptilicious.com
I believe you need a photo editing program for water marks. It's easy and can be applied with no hassle.
I know that there is CODE for stopping people from hotlinking your own photos, but watermarking it a great way to stop them from actually using it. (Unless they want to take time to remove the watermark in photoshop)

Re: Thread on Reptilicious.com
I dont think he was claiming raptures pictures as his own(although he didnt say otherwise), i think the point of his thread has been missed, he was putting raptures project down by saying that the normals that they have produced are worthless.
I personaly think its people like rapture putting time into these unproven traits that makes this hobby great and i think it is a sad day when someon needs to publicly put down a project like raptures or anyone elses dinker for what i can see is no reason.

I think he did more than just that. He was VERY careful to imply that the snakes in question were his, while at the same time leaving plenty of wiggle room to say, "No, I never said they were mine." I've seen him pull similar stunts many times.
And when confronted about that, he says he was just pointing out how misleading to the general public the breeder (actual owner of the pictures) was being for daring to believe the appearance might be genetic. BESIDES the fact that such a critique is entirely uncalled for...it's ALSO entirely FALSE in this case. Those pictures belong to Diana (Rapture)....and we here have followed her breeding projects with this snake and never once has she claimed to have anything other than a very beautiful dinker that she's enjoying working with.
Snowball's story about WHY he used those pictures simply does not match up with the reality of who he stole them from.
-
Re: Thread on Reptilicious.com
Snowballs is being very charming on your site, and it's the charming ones with an agenda and alterior motive who are the most dangerous and detrimental to your site. They know just how far they can go without breaking any TOS, while causing friction amongst the members.
He doesn't have a history in the UK, but - be very, very careful with him if you plan to keep him around. He absolutely lead people to believe those were his pictures, even saying he'd post baby and post shed pictures - how would he know for sure Diana would even post them?
