    cage cleaners?
i was wondering about cage cleaning and i know some of you use bleach and stuff but would it be sufficient to just use something they sell in pet stores (ie http://www.petco.com/product/13344/N...y-Habitat.aspx )

i think that most of that pet store stuff is just useless for the same 7.99 you can get this http://reptilebasics.com/Chlorhexadi...z-p-16137.html and it makes many gallons of cleaner
    or
    this http://reptilebasics.com/Chlorhexadi...e-p-16138.html for 24.99

and it can be found other places make sure its the same product though Chlorhexadine Gluconate 2%

okay, to revive an old post. I purchased the Natural Chemistry Healthy Habitat that the OP linked. I purchased it from RBI and I have found it to work great in eliminating odor not only from the snake rack and the snakes themselves, but also in my rat and single mouse tanks. I also purchased a concentrated bottle of the Chlorhexadine to use in conjunction, but have not used it yet. I recommend the Healthy Habitat cleaning product. Does anyone else use it? If so, what are your opinions on it. Please share. thanx.

I baught a gallon of Healthy Habitat a while back and found that I absolutely can't stand the smell. To me it doesn't smell "clean" and the further down in the jug I got, the worse it smelled (or at least that was my perception was). I also couldn't find anywhere on the bottle where it stated it was a disinfectant so I shoved it under my sink in case I run out of Lysol I.C. which I love.

Awesome! With a Gallon though I won't need to buy Chlorhexidine for YEARS! I have 1 snake and have had her now for 3 years and still on that same bottle. I don't even think of used even half of the gallon, maybe not even 1/4. HAHAHA!

I used to use Chlorhexadine but now i use Vanodine. Vanodine is a virucide, anti bacterial and a fungicide. The only thing bad about it is that over time it can stain plastics.

I use Poop Off (a product safe for use with parrots) to clean, and the Chlorhexadine to disinfect.
