Big Rant

So I ordered a Green Anaconda baby and she was supposed to be deliver to me today before 3. Well I got an email from the breeder who told me that DHL called and said they shipped it to the wrong transit. So my snake is supposed to come tomorrow. I am just a little worried she might not make it.

Yipes! I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you!

Ugh, that's rough!! Snakes are pretty tough, hopefully she'll be okay, just a bit stressed.

Who did you order from that was shipping DHL? :confused: I've had so many bad experiences with DHL, I wouldn't even bother shipping an envelope through them. The breeder should be able to assist you in the event something does happen, or offer compensation, due to that type of error.

He said if the little girl doesn't make it then he will give me a full refund or give me another snake.

DHL is certianly not the best carrier, I just got 6 32qt tubs in the mail and every single one of them were smashed at one corner. You can see the dent on the box where they dropped it.

Ugh I am not having a good feeling about this.

Unfortunatly most I know steer clear of dhl because of things like this. I'm sending good vibes your way, and in the future if a breeder is going to use dhl, suggest something else!

I don't think I'd sleep until I had her. Lets hope for her sake she makes-keep us posted.

It just keeps getting better....... Now they shipped it to the wrong house. And somebody will call me within 2 hours. I live in Cleveland Ohio and its pretty cold here right now so I am expecting a dead snake when I finally get the package.

Hopefully there is a 24-48 hour heat pack in there and she might make it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!

Haha DHL was supposed to deliver 3 guitars from my store. 2 of them are worht 1250.00 each. One is worth 70,000.00 and one of the boxes wasn't delivered. So far I'm waiting and HOPING one of the 2 were the 70,000.00 guitar.

Well she came and she is not moving! The guy told me to put her under a lamp b/c she is in hibernation from the cold? Then he told me to call back later. We will see how it goes. I am not keeping my hopes up though she is absoulty freezing cold.

Sorry for th edouble post. And since the truck driver couldnt get upmy driveway he left it by my mailbox. So I kept calling DHL until I was finally notified where she was.

Don't try and warm her up too quickly. You could put her into shock. Take it nice and steady with warming her up.

Honestly, I'd see about a refund....

Ok so now I am seeing small movements by her! Not outta the woods yet but I at least have seen some light at the end of the tunnel.

That is sad and ridiculous. Who would send live animals through DHL?

I don't want to start a bash fest, so it may be in everyone's best interest to NOT name any names until something is figured out on both ends. We don't need this thread to turn into a fauna BOI thread. Just my .02 cents.

Thats a big concern for me. Also getting her to feed is going to be really hard to do I think. I am up for the challenge though. If she comes out healthy she is gunna be beautiful.

That is so terrible. Have you contacted the seller about this? I suggest you do it as soon as possible if not so the appropriate measures can be taken.

Yeah we are in the middle of working things out. It was the first thing I did.

Sucks to hear she passed. I'd ask for a new pet with free shipping.

That's a really horrible thing to have happen sorry it didn't work out..

I'm very sorry to read that the snake did not make it. :( I hope the breeder does right by you.

For your next shipment I'd suggest a few things....

1) refuse to allow a DHL shipping - they have a very poor reputation (ALWAYS ask any breeder what company they use)

2) if it's a problem with your driveway, then you'll either need to address this or figure out another way to pick up the snake

3) if the sorting facility for the shipper is near you, you can request the box be held there for you to pick it up....that needs to be part of the shipping instructions from the breeder, agreed to by the shipper and you need to find out exactly what time to be at the receiving facility to get the snake quickly

4) once you see on the website "out on the truck for delivery", grab a book and park yourself where you can see the roadway - I've done it a ton of times myself if I was concerned about a shipper or a new driver on my route

5) watch the weather at both ends and refuse to have a snake shipped to you if a storm is forecast or the weather is iffy, it's best for the snake if you wait and ship at a more stable time of year

When I have a snake coming in, even though I've never had a problem, I post a HUGE note on my front door for FedEx. It says....DO NOT LEAVE PACKAGE AT THE DOOR....RING THE BELL AND KNOCK VERY LOUDLY...THANK YOU

I'm paranoid and don't trust a doorbell (mine is currently not working actually).
