Golli Reptiles Relocating!!!!
Thought I'd post it here first.....
My wife Andrea and I went to High School together in North Royalton Ohio (just outside Cleveland) and started dating in 11th grade and have been together ever since. She went to the University of Findlay and I went to Cleveland state, only to leave early to travel the country 10 months of the year working. I then took a job in Vegas and she followed me down after 3 years at Findlay. She finished her masters degree there and we moved to Florida. We have been very happy here the last 4 years and I never thought that I'd want to move back to the snow but after our son was born we decided it would be best if he could grow up knowing his grandparents and the rest of our families.
Andrea is an "environmental scientist" and was offered and took a job in Breaksville ohio last week. The moving truck is already coming FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She starts the 18th. Her and Ethan will be moving up this week, I'll be staying behind to finish out my breeding season until mid April or so and then be heading up that way.
Here new job is .4 miles from my mothers home, 6 miles from here parents and 8 miles from my Dads. We are very exited, quite stressed but ready to go.
I've already leased a new warehouse that I'll be moving the animals into, I have had a problem finding rodents so if anyone can help me out or point me into the right direction I'd be very very very grateful.....
I'm still going to be doing both Tampa shows, the FIRE show and Daytona down in Florida and look forward to meeting all of you Ohio herpers..... It looks like I'll be doing the cleveland, columbus, taylor, indy, hamburg and white planes shows as well as Tinley and a few others.
It may take me a bit longer to get to some emails during the next few weeks, but I'll get back to you. Thanks for any and all help any one has to offer and for the support....

Re: Golli Reptiles Relocating!!!!
Yea...Welcome back to the Mid-west you can be sure I will be making a stop by once your new place is up and running...we have a great mouse/rat breeder here in Indy so getting rodents shouldn't be an issue going forward (either frozen or live).

Re: Golli Reptiles Relocating!!!!
Thats a big move, but it sounds like its for the right reasons. Good luck Neil!

Re: Golli Reptiles Relocating!!!!
Gratz and all. I don't know ANYBODY that actually wants to move where it snows.
Snow is not cool at all.

Re: Golli Reptiles Relocating!!!!
I would bet that the grandparents are happier than you are about the relocation at this point. But you can't put a price on the benefits of the relationship between the child and loving grandparents. Also it's the only babysitters that you can get without any cost or worry on your part.
-
Re: Golli Reptiles Relocating!!!!
Congratulations! I hope everything goes smoothly!

BT, would love to meet up at the Columbus show, I'll pick up dinner........
Lord Jackel / Nixer no matter who is suppling me, I'd love to have as many quality back ups as possible..... Hundreds of rats and thousands of mice a week in the summer........
Everyone else, I actually don't mind the snow, I'm hoping for a nice warm week while I'm actually moving everything, but I would not mind getting in a few trips down a the slops once I'm settled in, so let it snow......
Grandparents are super happy. My father in law is one of those guys that knows everyone within 500 miles. When we were first considering the move we were on the phone at 8:30 at night and I was stressing over where I'd put the animals. By 8:15 the next morning he had a space for me 3 miles from where we will be living for nearly half the cost I was expecting........

Re: Golli Reptiles Relocating!!!!
You told me you were thinking about it, but I thought you were just BS'ing. I guess I thought wrong. I am glad to hear that you aren't going to forget about us little guys in the South. Congrats to you and Andrea (and Ethan, but I don't know if he really cares right now). LOL

Andrea had her initial interview the thursday we were heading down to NARBC and while everything went well, I half thought it was a pipe dream. They made her a formal offer on Monday while we were driving back. Mike pulled the car over and punched me in the shoulder. He knew we have been thinking about moving back for nearly a year and that andrea had the interview, but did not put the two together until after he had congratulated her on the phone that the new job was indeed in Ohio. Once he realized we were then moving I was beat a few times and then I bought him a happy meal at McD's. He felt better but is still a little bitter:D
I'll never forget you southern boys and girls (I think its mostly because the funny way you talk) but I'll be around for the long haul, just need to buy new tires for the truck more often with all the trips.......

Congrats to your wife and her new position. Hope all goes well during your move; I'm sure you have many things to worry about during that transition period.

Catawhat, thrilled to eventually meet you as well, we can fight over the check later.....
Papak, looking forward to seeing you as well. I've lived all over the area, lakewood, parma, brunswick, breaksville, broadview hts, spent most of teen years in North Royalton, the new shop is actually located in downtown north royalton between Ridge and State on 82 if your familiar with the area.

My move date looks like its going to be the 7th of april. I'm expecting a slew of eggs shortly there after however it will more than likely be a few months before I make the show. I plan on doing it monthly there after. I appreciate the warm welcoming and will have "gifts" for the everyone up there at the first few shows that I do.

Re: Golli Reptiles Relocating!!!!
Good luck with the move Neil, sounds like a huge undertaking but being close to family will make it all worth while.

Kudos Neil :gj:
I wish I would have made it one afternoon to your facilities to check it out. I always wanted to. You guys will be just fine up there...in the cold...5 feet of snow....

You also have to visit Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH.

That's cool... I grew up in Rocky River and can remember visiting North Royalton and all the others you mentioned for hockey and soccer over the years.... I'm not really familiar with the roads cuz I moved before I got my license but I might have to make a trip sometime! Hope the move goes smoothly for you!

I live in Ohio, and know a few guys who breed rodents. Both sell at the Columbus show. I can put you in touch with them if you would like. Also, welcome back to Ohio.

Thanks Sean, I'm guessing Doug will follow me north once it warms up.
Currently 33 miles each way takes him 2.5 hours so thats 13 miles an hour.
1121 miles from him place to the new shop = 86 hours and he's there. I mean real dedication is just that, threw thick and thin and near and far.....

Re: Golli Reptiles Relocating!!!!
OK, part of the journey is now accomplished.....
My wife and son fly up to Cleveland Sunday morning and I left driving a 26ft uhaul with two dogs at the same time. I got here yesterday around 5pm. I got to go and see the new warehouse and its going to work out perfectly..... I'll post pictures later in the week. I'm flying back to Tampa on Saturday to finish out the breeding season and prepare to move all the animals up.....

Re: Golli Reptiles Relocating!!!!
well i am a little late in wishing you well. sounds like things are rolling right along and that is a big move but it always helps when you are moving towards family instead of away. I know I moved half way across the country from my family 13 years ago. Continued success with your move and of course all the good wishes to you on your season going forward. :gj:
