She's crafty!
I'm so very, very proud of myself and I just had to share. My six year old daughter has a 50s day coming up this week, so that means I have to come up with a poodle skirt. One big problem... I don't sew. I decided I could do this, and I did! I don't believe I cursed (outloud anyways) once! I did have to warn the family to leave me the heck alone as I finished the leash part, but all in all I'm very proud that I made something that stays on my daughter and vaguely resembles a skirt. My daughter loved it, and wanted to wear it all day so I guess it has her approval too. :D

Christie, that's fantastic and look how happy she is in it! I hate to admit my own oldest daughter had a part in a 50's themed music show at school years ago and I had Mike's mom make the darned poodle skirt.
I'm in awe!

Re: She's crafty!
Awww thanks. I'm actually suprised that it turned out as well as it did. That picture really isn't that good, but I'm not touching the skirt until she has to wear it Wednsday. I'll take another pic of her all dolled up in the entire outfit. This was just a quick, gotta prove to my mom that I actually did it kind thing. You should see my house though... pink felt EVERYWHERE!!!
My daughter got all excited when she saw extra fabric. All of a sudden I'm make baby doll sleeping bags and such. She was all set for me to start making baby doll clothes but I closed the sewing machine on that particular request... at least for now. I need a break from that experience. :giggle:

Thanks. I don't get along with sewing either. I'd love to learn, but I really lack the patience for it.

Now you tell me.... *walks off with bloodied bandages on all fingers* I didn't even think about glueing that leash on. That I decided should be hand sewn, and I think I must have stabbed my fingers at least a dozen times.

Re: She's crafty!
The dress is cute and your little girl is a doll.
I can't help but think of the Beastie Boy song when I read the title.

Yup, she'll be all decked out on Wednesday. I even have some cute little glasses too. Let's not forget the ponytail too... which will be a major pain since she hates when I mess with her hair. :(

I also enjoy the roll of Aunt as well. I love to spoil my nephews and soon to be neices. (one on it's way in a matter of weeks)
The fact that my daughter didn't want to take it off, made my day! Well that and it stayed on her. :giggle: I'm taking it with me to the gym to show if off tomorrow. (is that sad or what?!)

I don't think that's sad at all~ I think it's very cool! Often we are so into making our weaknesses or faults or errors the center of attention; I always love it when people choose to make their accomplishments and 'good stuff' the center of attention!! Positivity, baby!!! :gj:

That's exactly what I was thinking. I thought this was gonna be a beastie boys thread. Either way, that's pretty sweet! My 50s day when I was a kid I dressed like John Travolta. Which is odd, because my snake's name is Vincent Vega, who is Travolta's character in pulp fiction.
Maybe I have some weird obsession I don't know about?

One of the ladies showed me some suggestions to alter the pattern, to make it a bit easier. I wanted to show her I wasn't a lost cause, and to thank her for her help. Everyone thought I did a good job. I'm still SOOO proud of myself. :D

Whew.
Well today went off without a hitch, ie. the skirt stayed in one piece and stayed ON! I've been going a bit crazy with life right now, as it is thoroughly kicking me in the butt. (ever have those weeks when you get up and just have WAYYYY too much to accomplish :( - I just can't seem to catch up) Anyway, I'm exhausted but just had to share this picture before I forgot to post it. She had a blast, and was too adorable for words.

I am glad that the day went well!! She still looks adorable!!!:)
And as far as waking up with way too much to do, that is an everyday event for me!! I think that I will remain behind in what I need to get done until all my kids move out...LOL!! :P
Again great job!!
