How's your handwriting?
I dont know how common this is, but I have some ugly handwriting.
I've always considered myself an artistic person, but when I write, it looks like an 8 year old scribbled my notes.
I suck at cursive, although I do try.
I'm so bad at writing lowercase I changed to all capital letters for my handwriting.

Re: How's your handwriting?
My handwriting changes with what kind of writing instrument I use. If I use a pencil or a normal ball point pen, my handwriting looks like a chicken stole my pencil and went to town. If I am writing with a permanent marker, my writing is so neat and tidy its almost scary.

I have to agree with that for myself. I love graffiti with permanent markers, I think I can do that well. :D

Re: How's your handwriting?
My handwriting used to be big and clear.
Now it has a chicken slant going on...hmmm

Re: How's your handwriting?
Mine is HORRIBLE. Even my cursive is hideous. And yet I'm pretty good at drawing. I don't get it. I've always hated my handwriting though, everyone else's evolved into neat little swoops and swirls and mine looks like a rabid weasel took my pen and ran across the page with it.
I shoulda been a doctor.

You know what I say, we artists didn't want to conform at the tender age of writing development for fear we would be forever stuck in a small degree of wrist movement. ;)

Yep, that's gonna be my excuse...er, reasoning from now on.

Re: How's your handwriting?
Ed, you do have some crazy nice handwriting. It's very flowery, but I have a tough time reading plain cursive as it is lol
-
Re: How's your handwriting?
I am an engineer by trade so all my writing looks like this " HELLO PEOPLE " very small block letters :D as for my cursive ....well yeah ......it sucks lol;)

Re: How's your handwriting?
Oh get gets even better than that when I try.. :D

Re: How's your handwriting?
I'm nearly 49 years old and so I grew up without computers and email and where thank you notes at Christmas and on birthdays needed to be written to all of my relations. Also, all school notes were handwritten as well as all school term papers, reports, etc. Lots of practice with writing equals the ability to handwrite legibly and well.
When my kids were little, I also had them handwrite letters etc. But more and more the computer and emails and word.doc's and spell check intervened and it is difficult for me to be certain what some of my kids write!! Good grief!! :O
Oh well, times change and the sign of a living culture is seen through the changes it makes; guess good handwriting is not necessarily en vogue right now!! :)

Re: How's your handwriting?
I've seen chicken scratch better than mine. You know it's bad when a five year old makes fun of it:rolleyes:

Re: How's your handwriting?
My handwriting gets worse and worse as I get older. It used to be very neat and tidy. Now my brain wants to write faster than my hand can keep up (I'm used to typing pretty fast, I guess).
Both my older children have atrocious handwriting, and my youngest (in Kinder) looks to be following in their footsteps. I found out that they don't even try to teach any sort of penmanship in schools now, because so much of what kids are growing up into is keyboarding (it's not even called "typing" anymore!) so they don't "have to know" how to write legibly.
Same thing with spelling...which I was quite horrified to find out. More and more schools are getting away from enforcing any sort of correct spelling or even teaching spelling because "everything" has "spell check" in it now. How utterly wrong is that???

Re: How's your handwriting?
I'm like you connie. I write in all capitals. I can't write in lowercase at all.
My handwriting looks like chicken scratch. I have a hard time signing mynamein cursive on stuff. Like checks for example.
I can sign my first name no problem. But my last name is so frustrating. And it starts off with an S and then looks like scribbles.

Re: How's your handwriting?
Uhg, what next?
"Oh, we don't need to teach them that, they can just google it!"
My spelling is usually pretty good, but i think that's because I read a LOT.

How good is your vocabulary?
http://www.freerice.com/
*P.s. I'm at 3000 rice grains, but only at the 36th level. ;)

Re: How's your handwriting?
It depends on how much of a hurry I am in or not. At the store, signing my credit-card slip.. it looks a mess. If I am writing a thought-out card to someone, I will deliberately neaten my writing.

Re: How's your handwriting?
My handwriting is horrible; but who needs hands when you have a keyboard ;)
-
Re: How's your handwriting?
I was at Level 36 and at 1000 grains of rice.

Or the horny neighbor from Family Guy! Thanks for dropping the knowledge Ed, I always wondered why they picked that name for him.

Re: How's your handwriting?
Quaggy. As in, "My Bp's water bowl looks quaggy after he takes a poo in it." Lol.

Re: How's your handwriting?
Pretty darn good, but I can't write in cursive...
-
Re: How's your handwriting?
My handwriting use to suck and then I took a course that retaught me how to wright and even hold the pen. I took me years of practice and relearning to get it right. I mean it took 18 years for my writing to get that bad so it took another 8 for it to improve.

Re: How's your handwriting?
A very slight loop, neat, precise, perfectly formed letters, uniform in size. What's so scary about it is that it's the EXACT SAME as my mother's handwriting. I was brought up to "do it nice or do it twice", and I guess it sort of stuck around. I'm a sucker for spelling, too. Guess that's what happens when you are raised by a schoolteacher.
As for printing??? FORGET it!! My 7 year old can print WAYYY better than I can.
Oh, and I'm no artist, at ALL. I can't draw a straight line with a ruler! No musical talent...(can't carry a tune in a bucket), etcetera....lmao

Good job Judy! I played that thing for a half an hour one day and I would keep working my way back up to 36, and get some off the wall word like antidisestablishmentarianism. :O

Re: How's your handwriting?
Ok,
I'm going to have to block that site if I am ever to get any work done - seriously good find.:gj:
Went as far as 2000 grains of rice at level 47 before I noticed I was getting hooked.
Oh and my handwriting looks like the pen exploded and frightened a drunken spider. It used to be very neat but very small but when I was made to write at a larger size it came out looking horrible.:(

That's scary! I love my son's second grade teacher. She used to teach 5th and really pushes our children to write in journals everyday. Heck, one of their spelling words this week is Ichthyosaurus. :O (ok, that's just a bonus word but STILL!!!)

Oo, Mister fancy pants! You hold the record so far in this thread. :P I know I've wasted too much time on that site as well. I'm going to have to bring a dictionary next time I play. :8:

Re: How's your handwriting?
Mine is terrible! I print for maximum legibility, but it's still pretty tough for others to read. I also have an oddity in that I write each letter from the bottom instead of the top.
I'm a bit embarrassed by it and am glad the computer revolution enables me to communicate with others in print.

Re: How's your handwriting?
I'm in school for architectural engineering, so that changed my handwriting a lot! I have always had very small, fairly neat handwriting, but now even more so. Although I seem to have forgotten how to make lowercase letters..... haha
