Another Craigslist ....
I'm an exotic animal breeder and specialize in High End Boa Constrictor and Ball Python Morphs.
I have an exotic snake collection worth over $250,000.00 and would be willing to
trade part or all of it for
LAND, HOMES, VEHICLES, BOATS and more!
Please contact me for more info.
Thanks, Joe

Based on the pictures he provided of 4 snakes, I would say he is overestimating a bit.

I would flag his behind and be rid of the scammer ;)

Are you sure it is Joe Capone.....sorry I am just very curious...I know another Boa breeder named Joe in that area...
Just me being Nosy

No, I have no idea if it's Mr. Capone or not. Just making fun of a shady Craigslist ad...

I don't know the guy, but he did say he would "trade PART or all of it". The snakes he has pictured prove that he either has pictures of "high end boas" or he actually has them. You can't expect him to post 100 pictures in his add. I'm sure he will give interested parties more pictures if he is for real.
Why don't you contact him and see if he has more before making a judgement? Just a thought.

Re: Another Craigslist ....
I'd like to add one more thing before I go to work.
Before everyone jumps on me for what I said, put yourself in this mans position. He may be on the "up and up" and your thread is making him out to be a "scammer". Is there anything worse in this business than being compared to Joe Capone?
If he really does have a collection worth $250,000, I'll bet that's over $200,000 more than you people have. If he is real, this business is small, I'm sure he will get wind of this thread.
I know I never post much, and I know how forum "clicks" work, but this is obviously a sore subject for me. I had something similar happen on a forum from a clueless idiot.
Now having said all this, if he turns out to be a "scammer", you can tell me to shut my fat mouth.:) A little more homework is all I'm saying should have been done here. This is the world wide net.

Re: Another Craigslist ....
I'm not big into boas by any means, but don't all boa breeders know each other some way or another through the grape vine? IF he is a big exotic animal breeder, and has such a refined collection worth $250,000... I would expect some boa fan's to know him.
I know this isn't the forum for boa breeders, so that may go unanswered. Look it up on the boi! ;)
-
Re: Another Craigslist ....
He is also in my city and I have never heard of him. The pictures also don't look very high-end compared to a lot of the boa morphs I've seen.
Also to have a collection of 250,000 in value, even if each snake is worth 1,000 or more he would have to have over 250 boas, which is a lot of boas.
My point was I think he is severly over estimating, but take it for what its worth.

but the man also said he has bp's too and we have all heard of bp's going for 4k, 5k, and even 20k and higher so if he only had 50 bp's worth 5k each thats 250k and if you ask around here alot of peeps will say that 50 bp's is a small part of their collection
not taking sides just pointing it out

Re: Another Craigslist ....
I always find it interesting that people need to post dumb Craigslists ads here. They are usually rediculous or scams, thats why they are on Craigslist. I vote for leave'm there. If you want to know whats on that site go there. I dont go there myself but I do belive trash should be left in it's proper place;)
Not knocking Craigslist but it's not designed for reptiles (unless you like picking through the garbage). Just my opinion.

If someone had a collection of that value would they really be on craigslist to sell or trade? ;)

Well looks what he wants to trade for. Can you imagine this add on Kingsnake?
I'm just curious how people that think he's a scammer think he's gonna pull this off.
Let me see. He gets the people on the phone, then sends some pics of his snakes. They in turn ship him a boat, send him a deed to some land etc..etc.. Then he doesn't deliver the snakes. Now this will be a scam for the record books if he pulls this off.:D

Depending what those snakes his has pictured may be het for. They are worth at around 10k het for nothing, and maybe 20k if het for something.

Re: Another Craigslist ....
Craigslist is a cool place...I have only struggled a bit with the flaggers who want to control everyone....I still can't figure out why some of mine get flagged...lol...
I can understand this guy is just offering some very high end trades....now that does not mean he is legit, only that I can see someone trading a $5,000. Motley for a $5,000. boat....
Someone may have a piece of land they want to get rid of too...you just never know.

I did not mention scam, my point is simply what kind of breeder would put snakes of such value on craigslist?
Personally no one I would care to do any business with!
If craigslist was the place where reputable breeders were I think it would be known by now!

One of those snakes looks like it's carved out of wood.

Where else would you suggest this guy go when fishing for a sucker? If someone wants to trade a boat for a snake, so be it. I'm not sure why you have such a problem with it, he's just trying a different approach to selling his snakes, and it might work. You can't catch a sucker if you don't cast your line.
Here is my prediction on what is going to happen here. The internet police here a bp.net are going to find out exactly what he has for sale, then they are going to compare prices with Johnny come lately on Kingsnake. They are going to tally it up, and if it down't amount $250,000 exactly, the interent police are going to be all over his behind for lying in his add.
I may be new to posting on this site, but I am obviously not new to how internet forums work.:)

Re: Another Craigslist ....
Rather harsh judgement of this site don't you think?

Craigslist only allows "adoption fees" for animals, it was never intended to be a marketplace to sell animals, and it's against their TOS to sell animals there.
I really don't care what he does, personally.

I agree with you, although I do wish craigslist had a place to sell animals online, as i'd say 75% of people who "adopt" animals on craigslist are really trying to sell the animals, and I'd rather them be upfront then say. I have a 1 year old female ball python I'm trying to adopt out.
Then I e-mail and get oh well I'll only sell her with her 20 long, water bowl, clamp lamp and light bulb, oh how much? 350 :-p

Re: Another Craigslist ....
Boa girl to the rescue... the person posting that add is, indeed, a tried and true boa guy. And he does, indeed, have some excellent animals. I would say he has probably around $250,000 in animals very easily. He has some of the finest pastel boas I've ever seen.
His name is Joe Rollo aka BCI Joe. I don't know his reasons for selling his collection, nor for posting it on Craigslist... but he's a good guy in the biz. Check him out on the BOI, he's rolling in good guy threads :)
And yes, I spend WAY too much time in the boa constrictor section of KS.

OK everyone. Who wants to go first and say "I'm sorry, I was wrong"? Come one people. Be a man/woman and admit you were wrong, and I was right.:banana:
I think you should go get BCIJOE ladywhipple and let him know where he has been slammed for no good reason.
I hope lessons were learned here by all involved. If you don't have the facts, don't say anything.
ps. All jokes aside. It really wasn't right for people to go after him like that. He's just thinking "out of the box" and good for him.
-
Re: Another Craigslist ....
Honey, no one was slamming anybody, and I didn't post it for any sort of vindication, on your part or mine, or BCI Joe's. Maybe a couple people jumped to conclusions, but that's no reason to rub their faces in it.
I merely posted the information so people would know that the ad is legit. End of story.
Calm down a little dude :D
EDIT: And for the record, running to tell Joe that his ad was being talked about here on BP.net would be me acting as a supposed "bp.net internet police spy." Lol... thanks, but no thanks... ;)

Ugh, never mind I will just keep my mouth shut (once again). I'm telling ya, my tongue has been bitten several times this week and I think it is bleeding.
Ok, not biting it all the way. Enough of this "clique" crud already from new people. Give us a chance to get to know you before you decide we are all a bunch of high school children who won't allow newbies in. And if your first couple months of posting are about cliques, how so and so is wrong or anything else on the negative side, don't expect people to warm up to you. This IS a friendly place if you allow it to be.

It skirted us here in Indy, but a little further south where my parents and sis live, they're still getting it. They have about a foot, and weather.com is predicting another inch for every hour during the night... and I have to take my niece back to her mother tomorrow! :weirdface
I was going to try to get to Columbus this weekend, but doesn't look like that's going to happen. This is the second time I haven't gone due to weather... I'm just ready for spring already!

Re: Another Craigslist ....
So, after a long week of preparing for and vending at the Tampa Reptile Mania and Exotic Info, here I am to touch up upon what's been said here.
My name is Joe Rollo. Has been so all my life.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, have lived in Miami, Fl., and currently reside in Cape Coral, Fl.
Been doing this for 15 years. Been posting on KS for about 10, Fauna for a little less.
Have been a vendor at the Nation Reptile Breeders Expo in Daytona for 10 years or more, since they held it in Orlando at the Radisson and we would head down to the Boston Lobster Feast after the show for All-You-Can-Eat Lobsters for $19.95.
Keeping around 300 snakes doesn't give me the luxury of time to check all the forums all the time, so I can't say I know many of you by your user names, but I do know Andy Federico, AJF Reptiles, (he's seen my T+ Albinos and other high end snakes) and I can say that many OTHER users here notified me directly about this post. Thanks again guys!
At first, I didn't see the need to 'defend' myself, since there really was nothing to defend, and I thought the whole thread was rather silly.
Anyway, I do keep and breed Boa Constrictors and Ball Pythons. I use solely Boaphile Plastics as caging for all my snakes.
I really don't understand the confusion with trading snakes for objects, vehicles, or even property. If someone would really give me the title to their home just by me sending a picture of a snake and making promises, I really don't know what to say about that ... lol... but the fact of trading animals for property or other is nothing strange, or new, or out of this world. Especially in todays real estate market.
(funny, a breeder friend of mine received a cuban link gold chain from a customer weighing 280 grams at the show just this weekend for a few boas valued at about $3k.
In todays gold market, that's about a $10k gold chain he received for $3k. I would say that was a great deal! Great opportunity!
The customer actually offered this deal, so it's not like he was pressured or scammed in any sense.)
Not sure if all are aware, but out here, property is cheap, and we still have lots of land for $10-$15,000., and homes for sale for $75,000 or so.
I could acquire land just by trading one snake, or a home just by trading a couple snakes.
For the land/home owner that is watching the market, and his profits, crumble, that could be a great opportunity.
Life is what you make of it.
If we sit on the same animals, on the same site, and just watch as things get worse, that's what will happen. If you explore, study, research, and take other means to get yourself out there and market your animals, you could do far, far better than the current market conditions allow.
I do dabble in real estate here in South Florida and saw this as a possible opportunity.
So, I will attach a few pictures of myself, my facility (snake rooms), and some shows i've done, just for reference.
and regarding the weather, e've also had a few cold fronts, but generally experience weather in the 65-80 degree range out here in the Cape at this time.
So, if any of you would like to introduce yourself, and we become friends, i'd be glad to invite you down to come by, enjoy the area, check out my collection, and even stay with me for a few, if need be. I'm always open to meeting new reptile folks! 8)
Thanks again, Joe Rollo - Bci Joe
