    LADIES!!! A Q for you...
I am trying to attempt to TRY, ie dress better than jeans and a T-shirt, with flip flops on.

Now, I want to know, what is your favorite product, outfit, etc that makes you feel cute.

    Perfume, Makeup, clothes, etc...

Do you have to wear suits to work? Do you usually dress "up" everyday anyway?

I'm more of the Tom Boy type, which is why I ask.

You just became my new best friend! :D

Lol... I've had to dress up (business casual) for my last two jobs, and I personally buy most of my stuff from Old Navy or oldnavy.com. It looks nice and fits well.

Sometimes I go to Lane Bryant, but they're pretty expensive, and I don't have a whole lotta cash to spend on clothes.

Kohl's is good too... I buy most of my dress shoes there.

    Hey, I love Old Navy.

Problem is, I buy all the cute stuff, and rarely use it.

    When I have reason to, I can dress up. When I don't, I don't...

I have yet to fathom the women who do it every day. I don't get it...

I always wear jeans, a t-shirt, and the ultimate faux-pas crocs. The crocs only have holes in the sides not the top though, so they kinda "pass". ;) I'd always considered myself tom-boyish in the past, but people have told me I've gotten more "girly" recently. :confuzd:

But what makes me feel cute is freshly-dyed hair (haircuts do that for a lot of ladies too), new jeans, maybe a solid color shirt looks less casual than something with logos. Something simple with a necklace or two. Rings. That sort of thing works just fine for me. :) I love eyeliner too, when I'm feeling patient enough to bother. Lately, my favorite thing to wear that suits most situations is a light blue top and dark blue jeans. It's all pretty minor subtle stuff though.

I'm also a fan of Garnier hair care products. Smells nice and works too! No perfume, but I use a fragrant soap that I love called Chandrika. Dunno if that's any help, but both those companies should have me in their employ because I use them religiously, lol.

Being a jeans and Tshirt fan myself...I TRY to buy dressier shirts that are still pullover and comfy....i save my newer jeans for my "dress" jeans....

but usually end up in one of Wayne's Tshirts anyway! Don't like my little piggies so I wear pull on shoes...sheesh, I'm lazy :D

Haha... I prefer Jeans, skater shoes (flip flops in the summer, but not allowed them at work) and a few layered shirts....

I have one girly weakness though: www.lush.com

You and me both! If I didn't have to, I definitely wouldn't. As it is, as soon as I get home, I toss off the work clothes and immediately jump into a hoodie and jeans.

    I LOVE big, comfy hoodies...

I'm a guy and I couldn't agree more with this statement. I hate when girls flip flops "flap" against they're feet though. So wear tennis shoes. :)

Pffffth! I wear a t-shirt (sweatshirt/hoodie in the winter), jeans, tennis shoes and a baseball cap every day. Anything beyond that is dressing up and not only do I not own other clothes I don't feel comfortable in them. I look at other girls all the time and thing--wow, they look so cute and well put together! Why can't I look like that? But the fact is, even if I did own nicer clothes I wouldn't wear them. It's just not me.

I guess the one girlish thing I do use is bath and body works products like bath gel and lotion. Nothing too heavy or flowery though. I like warm vanilla in the winter months and pearberry in the summer months. :)

    I love it!!!

Yeah, for the record, I went to the Mall during my lunch break, and saw all of the well put together girls.

    Just made me think.

BUT! I feel much better, and although I will continue to "Try", it will be more when I feel like it, rather than every day.

Buy a nice short but casual blazer or short jacket. Wear it with your jeans and t-shirt. Dressed up casual. Courderoy (can't spell), Velvet and just nice cotton look great ;) There's your way to "try" but still be yourself.

ps, if it's uncomfortable it means it doesn't fit properly and try a diff size or have a tailor modify it for you... Comfy etc.

Perfect! The blazer/jeans look is very nice. And you can usually pull it off with decent tennis shoes, too, or slipons.

On a side note, I find it funny that while we all love our jeans, we also all seem to love to get our hair done, use good hair product, wear lotion, etc. Lol... I so love getting my hair done. It is my one crazy expenditure that I will never ever give up...

I hate to say but I can't remember the last time I "dressed up". Being a mom for a lot of years now it just seems at some point I started buying stuff that hid the spit ups, the snot stains and had enough pockets to carry somebody's Hot Wheel car and somebody else's favorite Barbie lip gloss. Oh and it had to wash well in case somebody either peed or puked on me! :D

With my youngest now 6 I am looking forward to the day when I won't dress to hide the grubbiness that comes with motherhood but you know what.....

when that day finally comes, I think I'll be a bit sad too. :tears:

Oh well, there's always grandbabies to look forward too! :)

Oh man I HATE dressing up lol Unless I have too, I don't do it. I still wear light make up and do my hair though.

I love my jeans and t shirts in the winter with a warm sweat shirt or comfortable jacket.
In the summer, its bikini's , shorts and tank tops. Oh and can't forget the sandals or flip flops.

I love the outdoors, fishing, hiking, swimming. Hows a girl to do all that in a skirt and heels...AND have fun. Just not possible.

Basically I look at all the girls wearing these little teeny close and wonder to myself. What is so important about looking beautiful when you can't breathe?

My outlook.. If I am not comfortable.. I am not wearing it.

Natural beauty is always more beautiful anyway!!

Oh I just have to add.

As far as hair care and lotions go.
I LOVE Hempz products, shampoo, conditioner, lotion. It smells so good, and with long thick hair, it works wonders. That and Redken all soft, and Redkens Ringlets.

No there is NO THC in Hempz products for those of you who get any ideas :D

Hair--oh do I hate it! If it were up to me I would have every bit of hair on my body except for my eyelashes lasered off. Hair is totally unnecessary and grows in the most ridiculous places.

Part of the reason I wear a hat all the time is because I hate my hair. If I could just get rid of it altogether I would be soooo happy.... But then people would be rude and stare and gawk and that, I think, would aggravate me more than just keeping my hair. Freaking people!

Maybe that's it. I wash my hair and dry it, run a brush through it and I'm good to go. Perfectly straight... I'm blessed and I'm not ashamed to admit it :) But it's always nice to stick a few red streaks in there and shock the hell outta people

Jean & T-Shirt all the way – Shorts & T-Shirt during the summer.

I don’t feel comfortable when I dress up.

The only girlie things I enjoy are lingerie :D and a nice perfume.

My hair is mostly straight with some wavy pieces mixed in. It's thin and blah and just...blah. It doesn't stay in a pony tail or anything else on it's own (without hair spray) because it is so soft and thin and if the wind is blowing at all it just flies around everywhere. And I really hate having it on my neck--it's a bit past my shoulders in length now but I always keep it pulled up with my hat on. The hat also keeps it out of my face, since it is not able to stay that way on its own, and I hate having it in my face and all over. I've tried having it cut short too and that was, well, not so good. Someone get me a razor!

Hey--sounds like you have the samre problem I used to! My hair is thin, baby fine, and there's not that much of it. I used to keep it long and in a ponytail but it looked bad. Finally I got the courage to get it cut short...but I think you have to be careful about what hairstyle you choose. I went through several books before I found one that would work with my face shape and the color, thickness, and lack of my hair..XD

It takes a little time in the mornings to style it (all I use is a tacky but wonderful smelling gel stuff, and my hands and a brush, and a round brush for the sides) but it looks MUCH better than keeping it long. Perhaps you should look through a style book and compare your own facial shape and hair type with those used in the pictures--believe me, I saw some that I loved--but if I'd tried getting them, I would have looked ridiculous.

Maybe you should sit down and look through a hairstyle website to try and find your face shape and hair type..? That way you can find the best style for you. If nothing else, short hair--in a generic hairstyle--is easier to care for.

I wouldn't have the slightest clue what hair style would look best for my face shape. I probably need to go to a salon and have them recommend something, but I am so not comfortable in that kind of environment! Me in my jeans looking plain and frumpy and all these fixed up girls wearing jewelry and makeup ... yeah.

LOL! This thread is great! I had to wear nice-casual for years... my job now... jeans.. tees... and my favorite: ****ies Overalls!

I'm soooo glad I don't haft to jack with dry cleaners and lint rollers anymore!

My definition of dressed up is now a pair of jeans that doesn't have a hole, and or paint on them... and I'll sport a "cute" top...

I'm guilty of using make-up... at LEAST mascara.. I have blondeish eyebrows... Blah...and I LOVE smelling "good"... :D
LONG gone are the days of that natural young glow!

As for hair... I usually brush it RIGHT before I officially have dreds... but I do wash it every day... sometimes I'll put some highlights in if I need a boost... and shaving!?!?!?

    Even less... :weirdface

I am a casual dresser. I can dress down at work, and I live in bootcut jeans, hoodies, and either sneakers or platform boots.
A few nice pieces that you can mix/match is the way to go! A few nice dress pants (or skirts; I myself am not much for skirts.) And tops that you can wear in layers, so that if you're indoors and you get hot or cold, you can add or remove a layer.
I admit to living in pajama pants and tees around the house. No reason to dress up.. the horses and snakes don't care as long as I am feeding or cleaning their homes :)
BLACK; you can't go wrong. No one can. Black dress pants, boots.. tops..

I really am the most comfortable when I'm in jeans, but I've found I really feel more girlie in nice shirts. Of course, the thing that makes me feel the most girlie is the bras from Victoria Secret. LOVE THEM!!! After having two kids, and wearing clothes that are AT LEAST 2 sizes too big, I have found my inner girlie girl. (my sister laughs at me all the time for this) I also prefer shirts that are not tight around my neck, becuase it makes me feel like I'm being strangled.

I love wearing a cute top with jeans, and if I'm feeling downright crazy then a comfortable pair of Docker pants. But first and foremost, they have to be comfy!!!

I also love my boots and heels, although I hardly ever wear them.

I go to work most days having to dress business casual - or if I have a meeting with a client (2-3 days a week) I have to wear a suit...ew.

When I first get home I check on my kitty, then I check on my snake. About 5 minutes after I get home I put on my jeans, t-shirt and Vans if I have to go outside, barefoot if not. This is what I wear almost all the time unless it is warm out, then swap the Vans for flip-flops.

I'm freakishly tall for a woman (6'2'') so "cute" clothes don't really fit me. Even if they did, I doubt I'd be interested in them unless they were really comfortable. I care only about comfort, which is why I hate having to wear a suit to work (even though I do look pretty good in one I must say!)

I say do whatever makes you happy! If you like to look "girly" or "cute" then put on a nice little top and maybe a pair of slacks instead of jeans. Personally, I am always in favor of the ultimate comfort, and dressing up usually makes me feel weird...mostly I guess because I get enough attention for being so tall.

My long-term boyfriend (we're not into the marriage thing) is as tall as me and likes my t-shirt/jeans/Vans look, and I've never dated a guy who didn't. That having been said, on the very rare occasion that I wear a skirt, he does freak out a little : )

I didn't realize some of you were referring to the clothing you wear at home. I only wear jeans and tees in public. At home I wear pajamas. The first thing I do when I get home is change out of those dressy jeans and into my pjs! There are some weekends when I don't put on real clothes at all. Ahhh, so nice.

Ha! You too? I get home, walk Diamond, and throw on a pair of mens flannel PJ bottoms and a T-shirt (usually snake related).

At work, I wear jeans, clean tennies, and a nice pullover top (except on Fridays when I can wear a T). I only dress business casual when I have a vendor coming in to see me. I HATE dress shoes, they hurt my feet.

Trick for dress shoes that actually works: Go in and buy some that are comfortable to walk around the store 3 full times while wearing heavy gym socks. They should be loose with those on.

That way when you get them home and walk around through the day they will be loose at first, but then your feet swell. When they swell you never get the 'uncomfortable' phase because you bought them that bit too big.

If you don't have really thick gym socks, find a pair that are perfectly comfortable immediately, and buy a half size bigger. If you know they swell alot, buy a full size bigger.

My last job was business attire daily (not even bus casual) and I'm a big clunky skate shoe kind of girl... Until a friend who models taught me this trick I'd end up walking home barefoot and being too sore to even go to the gym after work. Since, I've never had a problem.

Now I"m casual every day and love it!

each lady looks good in diffrent clothing. if you dont like what you are wearing it shows!!

around the house - sweat pants and a tank top
running out to the store- jeans and a tee with flip flops
going to work - all depends on where you work, if business dress business if not wear what your allowed and what makes you feel good
going out on the town - something sexy, semi dress shirt, skirt/tight pants ( not spandax sp?)

i can give one tip and i will give this one to any woman that wants to feel sexier

GO TO VICTORIA'S SECRET AND BUY!!! Some nice boy shorts ( for guys that dont know what these are i shun you!) or panties and bra and so on... if you feel that you look good wearing these under the cloths the personality and all other vibes are much more apealing

nick, everything you said is right on!

I don't dress up all that often, but I would if I had more reason to! Mostly i wear nice fitting jeans and either baby tees or any shirts with with a smooth breathy material... If it feels good on your skin, you'll definitely feel more confident wearing it.

And, Nick, Jason agrees with you... he loves my boy shorts! :D

Ok, my wife brings me with her when she goes clothes shopping and she doesn't have to drag me cuz for some reason I know style and she likes a man's eye. Well kinda... she says I'm 1/4 gay... I can pick an outfit, I can match wall colors to trim and carpet, I'm just not into the whole boofing a guy thing.

SO, an easy way to clean up and look good is first and foremost a pair of black stretch pants flared. You can wear any comfortable shoe, from a boot to sandals, with any height heel. For top... there are plenty of flattering things that are form fitting but not uncomfortable. If you're self conscious about your waistline, wear something with a busy pattern or something that kinda hour-glasses under the bra but is flowy in the middle. If your hair isn't specatcular, pull it back in a ponytail, but a high ponytail... show off that neck! And a light perfume or shampoo wouldn't hurt. Maybe Heavenly by Victoria Secret, or Herbal Escense.

Some good stores: Forever 21, Kohls, Mervyns... more expensive Macys, Nordstromes...

Ok, now that THAT'S over with, I'm going to go drink a beer and start up my chainsaw cuz I have a falling tree in my backyard that needs cutting down... and I need to go buy some lumber cuz I need to rebuild our fence. Where's my hammer...

I'm a jeans and t-shirt girl. Of course it helps that I work at a game company testing software and that's the standard dress code for the place. :gj:

I've never really bothered with makeup and perfume just makes me sneeze so can't help you there. If you're comfortable in jeans and t-shirt, pick up a really nice pair of jeans and some cute tops. That will go far in changing the look. I've also found that boots or low heels are good, too.

So, I guess I'm just an old hippie. I wear amber or patchouli oil. I have long dark brown hair, kind of thick, and at times wavy; starting to get gray streaks which I think is pretty cool. I wear Carhartt's and cowgirl boots when I go out to the ranch to work. When it gets too hot out there for pants, I'll wear cut-off's and boots.

When I'm not at the ranch I am in more of a city and also in grad school. I usually throw on levis cargo pants and a tie-dye shirt or tie-dye sweatshirt. When the weather is warmer it's shorts and t's all the way- I like American Eagle stuff. If I have to go to a colloquium (like I do in Arizona this June) I'll do a casual blazer and uber casual skirt. I like the stuff in the Sundance catalog and try to find it (much) cheaper in other places.

When I go out with hubby I like to get stuff from Victoria's Secret and turn it into an outfit, or part of an outfit. I'll get a corset and put it on over jeans or a skirt. Sometimes they'll have an awesome slip that looks like a dress and so I make it a dress and get some strappy shoes.

Point is, I am nearly 49 years old, a mom to 4 kids, a grandma to 4 grandkids, and I'm not giving in to a number. I look good, I feel good, and I am damn hot!!! And so are all of the rest of you~ no matter what you choose to wear. WE ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :gj:

With my youngest now 6 I am looking forward to the day when I won't dress to hide the grubbiness that comes with motherhood but you know what.....

when that day finally comes, I think I'll be a bit sad too. :tears:

Oh well, there's always grandbabies to look forward too! :)

Amen. I couldn't agree more. My youngest is 7 months and my clothes have taken a turn for the worse with her constantly spitting up on them. And also being a mom for so many years as well I've pretty much given up on dressing spiffy everyday. Jeans, sweatpants, t-shirts, sneakers, flip-flops in the summer is my thing. The only luxury I afford myself for everyday is doing my hair and putting on some eyeliner. So I dont "look" tired all the time LOL. I say, as long as your presentable be comfortable.

Actually, you made it up quite some time ago! :D Check out your reply to this thread:
    http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...highlight=haft

There are a total of 65 threads on bp.net that have the word "haft" in them.

Now before you wonder why in the world I know this or care, I saw this last night and was going to reply but decided I was too tired. Then today I couldn't remember what thread I saw it in. So I searched for "haft". Go ahead and wonder why I thought it was important enough to search for it, because I'm not sure I can answer that!

My boyfriend teases me all the time when I start talking about "hafting" to do things. I grew up in So. Cal., so I assume it is something I picked up there.

I live in So Cal. I've never picked up on that word...

Granted I was born and raised in Nor Cal, so "Hella" was part of my vocabulary for a long time...

I aint picky about what I wear, but it helps to have a friend that likes to dress up. She will get you to wear all those nice clothes after beating you with a leg of lamb.

It also helps to NOT BE IN A STABLE RELATIONSHIP. When your comfortable with someone you truley care for, you won't be motivated to look cute. (because frankly you dont care anymore!)

Some girls always like to look cute, to make herself feel better, but those of us that are comfortable with our bodies often don't care what others think.

Tips, when you buy what you like to wear, (ie. hoodies, jeans, shoes, hats) Buy things that make you look good. Don't just buy it because it's on sale, but buy it because your attracted to it, you like how it fits, and you also think you look damn sexy in it.
Let me reiterate: BECAUSE YOU FEEL DAMN SEXY IN IT (that is the most important part of dressing, you want to feel GOOD about yourself!)

That is just about the hardest thing to do, but when you put some time and money into it, the outcome is worth it!!!
