How do you think I should do that??
I mist his tank a few times a day, but I cant seem to get the humidity above 60% :weirdface
Re: Pictures of my new BP!
the humidity is 60%? with it that high he/she should shed in one or two pieces. where are you measuring that humidity from, top, bottom?

Well, I mist his tank and it goes up to 60, then it sort of goes back down to 50.. I'm measuring from closer to the top.
Re: Pictures of my new BP!
put that gauge or what ever you are using towards the bottom that will help get a better reading down where they are. what kind of substrate are you using?

I don't know what a substrate is.. haha, I'm still really new at this..
Re: Pictures of my new BP!
Hi,
Substrate is just a fancy name for whatever you put on the bottom of the tank. :gj:

Re: Pictures of my new BP!
I'm assuming that you are using a glass tank? Might want to check out the sticky for setting up a glass tank if you did not already do so. I use tubs, so the humidity practically takes care of itself. When he is shedding like that you can soak him in some warm water. Be sure not to go too high with the water (about half way up his sides) after about 20-30 minutes place him on a towel or in a pillow case and let him slither through it. Most of the shed will probably come off for him then. Also make sure you are using a digital hygrometer to measure the humidity.....plastic dial ones are not reliable at all.
Re: Pictures of my new BP!
I don't think he's going to to get the rest of that off himself. You probably need to soak him to assist him with that shed. Be right back with a link for you.

Re: Pictures of my new BP!
Nice snake, but he needs to be rid of the retained shed. Robin gave the advice that I was going to :) It is not a big deal to get the skin off if there is only one layer of extra skin, as it looks like in the pic.
In the future, I would make sure that he has a lot of humidity when he's going into a shed. I would cover most of your tank's screen lid with plastic wrap to retain the humidity when you can't be there to spray it. Since he is your new snake, I am Not trying to blame you for the retained shed.. whoever owned him before was at fault I would think.
