Hamburg, PA Pictures (2/23/08 - DUW)
OK, here are my pictures from the show the other day in Hamburg. They allow venemous snakes. Also, it was a smaller show and more informal - very friendly atmosphere. A recommend for sure. Also, I got to live my dream and touch a reticulated python. He was only at 14', but still a retic! I don't have a picture of that b/c that is when my husband was across the field house oogling the green mamba, black mamba, and gaboon. BTW, he watched the green mamba get sold for cash - according to him, lots of hundred dollar bills traded hands. By the time I got over there, the vendor had packed up and left. So, unfortunately, no pics of those guys. :tears:
Here goes:

And last but not least, me and the Jaguar Carpet Python I got to hold.

I believe it was Will Bird's (but, for the record, the guy who showed him to me was not Will). I got to meet and chat with Will and bought his book, of course! It's "A Snake Hunting Guide" and a great read so far. If only I'd remember to get it autographed... bummer!

It's not quite the NABRC show, but it looks like fun! I think shows are great way to enjoy our hobby, and spend some time among like minded people. Although I do have to say you don't look all that happy to be holding that Jaguar Carpet Python. :giggle:

I think that expression on my face was me saying, "Honey, get me in the picture, too!" And he was snappy. He showed me the inside of his mouth. But he bit the guy behind the display quite a bit as he tried to get him back in the deli cup.

Is your husband into snakes? Mine REALLY isn't. He was probably thinking... we're not bringing that thing home are we? :O
I've been to the Hamburg show once, and I thought it was a pretty cool show. It's not huge, but it's decent in size. I just really enjoy the shows, even better when you can enjoy them with friends!

Ah man! Now how am I supposed to now that?? What is your business name? I would have loved to meet you. I was just explaining to my husband that, despite your infraction points, I really like you. Maybe if you had responded to my thread about the show, I would have sought you out!!! :rage:

Actually, my husband DOES like snakes. He's just not over the top like I am. I was holding the jag; and he walked up asking, "How much is that?" I said, "You don't want to know." He agreed it was a beauty, but not in the price range for our poverty level right now.

Yes, we loved how informal it felt. That is why I had the gumption to ask to hold / pet a few things. I don't know if it was b/c the NARBC in Chantilly last October was my first show or what, but a big show like that felt intimidating. Though small, this one rocked!

 Yeah, really. I think the guy only let me hold him because we have a jungle carpet and I talked about how "he's not biting anymore." The lil' jag did snap toward my face, but was still a good foot or so away. I was like, "Wow! I got to see the inside of your mouth," and was cracking up. Once we got on the road, I realized that the guy sitting at that table was probably really happy I didn't drop the jag. :D I would have held him longer, but some very tall guy started inching up behind me and looking over my shoulder. Then the jag started getting really pissed. I didn't want to stress him any more, so I gave him back. But it was fun! He bit the guy who was putting him back quite a lot, but was too small to draw blood. I didn't have the pleasure of finally seeing him get that little feisty snake back into his deli cup b/c I had started talking to Will Bird. But my hubbie says trying to get the jag back in was really frustrating him.
Yes, you should go up. I think I'll go in late spring or ealy summer - not sure when. Does Will go to that one a lot? I need to take his book back and have him autograph it!
We should try to have all the BP.net'ers hook up, esp. since I missed JASBalls!! :rolleye2:

Re: Hamburg, PA Pictures (2/23/08 - DUW)
I think he is gonna try do it a few times every year every i know the last 2 trips out there he had a real good time and it was also pretty profitable for him as well,His biggest problem is that as soon as the weather gets nice in any part of the state his show season is done for the year because of all the Field work that he and Phil do across the state
But if he goes back up to do the pennsulvania trip again this fall i will definitly make it out with him!
