Degei 4 Available

For those of you that use Herp Software to track your reptiles Degei has just version 4. There is an entire list of new features (those most appear related to using a scanner).

Has anyone upgraded yet? I haven't as I can't find out if the upgrade for existing registered users is free of not...also not sure what it does to the existing database of info.

If any one knows please share - I will also be sending an email to try and find out.

I use the old version, i'll be upgrading shortly!

I contacted Damon regarding the update and he sent me the link to download the new version (glad I did because apparently he had my old email address)

Same here. For those that want to know it isn't a true upgrade it actually a new version so you will have both vs3 and vs4 when done. No biggie once the data is moved over to remove the old one.

I just wish they made a mac compatible version!

Is there anything like this out there besides Degai (which doesn't want to work with my Vista) and the one you can download from geckocam.com (which doesn't want to work either)? Gods, I hate Vista.

I like it so far, nothing really fantastically new but definitely seems more stable and some subtle convenient additions. :gj::gj: two thumbs up

I did that, but it's still acting all buggy for me.

Metzcal - Used that for a bit before I found Degei not bad software.

Free Herp is another but the website is long gone. If you look hard enough you can find a copy of it, I may even have it somewhere if I find i'll pm you

Great software. just got my update havnt even installed it yet. I am sure I will like it.

there is a free downloadable version if you go to degei.com

I know i saw that, but how good is the free trial?

Looks like the new version only allows 5 snakes to be added, plus you can't setup your racks or breeders/feeders on the trial version. I think it's only like 25 bucks which isn't too bad at all for the things you can with it. Might not be worth it if you only have a couple snakes.

I bought it a month ago. They sent me a link after I e-mailed him at no charge.

I just got a new laptop, so I downloaded the new version. It DOES work with Vista, but from what I read, you have to install it differently. When you install Degei to Vista, change the destination directory so it doesn't sit in C:/Program Files. Just use C:/Degei or another folder for it and it should install and work fine...

That was the old version. You dont have to do that for the 4.0 version.

I found my copy of free herp and uploaded it to my site..... Linky Just a note, this software is no longer supported or updated.

do any of you know if you have to come up with your own ID number for your snakes in Metzcal or if there is some way in the program that is done. I'm going crazy here!
