Ball Python Prolapse Mess!!!
I don't want people to take this the wrong way and i don't want to start a fight.
But there has been two or three threads on this prolapse mess in a week.
All i see is a bunch of failed attempts at popping. Please if you want to find out the sex of your ball python take it to the vet.
Sry had to get that off my chest!

Re: Ball Python Prolapse Mess!!!
Did they say that they were popping their snakes? Or is this just an assumption?
-
Re: Ball Python Prolapse Mess!!!
Making assumptions will make and ass out of you and umption.

Re: Ball Python Prolapse Mess!!!
Does anyone know if it's even possible to prolapse a snake by popping? I didn't think there was anything like that located in their tails? If these did happen from botched poppings, they did something seriously wrong.

So they haven't said they were popping then?

Re: Ball Python Prolapse Mess!!!
I honestly don't think you can prolapse a ball by popping it wrong.
From what I know prolapses generally revolve around two issues - feeding too big or too much and/or dehydration. Tho I could be wrong - I've never actually had a ball prolapse so I'm only going on what I've heard.

Just how many snakes are hurt by people that don't know the right way to pop would you say?
With the number of vids out now showing how to pop more people are trying it. How many of those get it right?
So is it such an outlandish comment??
-
Re: Ball Python Prolapse Mess!!!
It's not that difficult to pop a ball python, even an adult, and far more difficult to injure it in the process.
-
Re: Ball Python Prolapse Mess!!!
Also, can you link to the threads talking about prolapses that prompted this thread? I can't find them.

I'd say so, being that you started a thread ripping on people for causing something that a vet now told you can't possibly happen.

True enough but it does and can happen.

Re: Ball Python Prolapse Mess!!!
I agree, I took it kinda personal, seeing how my little BCI just prolapsed a few months ago. And I have never tried to pop her! You should think before you post here big guy!

Do you have hard data that supports that assumption? How often does it happen?

No just talking with my vet. And the herp vet(who my wife works for at the zoo) at my local zoo who says he gets calls all the time about popping snakes. And he tells me about the horror stories all the time.
So for me it was not that far fetched to think something like that can happen by bad popping.

You seem to have first engaged in mental masturbation and then implied that owners had caused the prolapse due to aggressive or incorrect popping technique.
You recanted after a vet educated you but yet continued with your thoughts of owners hurting snakes via popping them! I think at that point it might have been wise to step back.....IMO.
I feel that the reason there are videos happening on herp care (Brian's and Adam's; hardly "so many") is due to the herp hobby's tremendous growth and the desire to educate; always a good thing, as you discovered when you spoke to your vet today.
Keep it fun and educational and informative~ no one wants to listen to and learn from a member who is accusatory and incorrect. :rolleye2:

I still don't know what the horror stories are by popping though? Not prolapse, so what sort of horrible injuries are being inflicted on numerous ball pythons by popping according to the herp vet your wife works with?

Damnit Jas, look what you started. Now vets are loaded with injured snakes because of people incorrectly popping them after watching a youtube video. *POP*

Re: Ball Python Prolapse Mess!!!
I could be wrong as Ive only popped a couple times but doent the prolapse come from the opposite side? As in if you were popping for sex you would be pushing on the tail end and im guessing a prolapse would come from the other side where the intestines are? ... in the end making a prolapse not possible from popping?
-

dONT YOU PUSH FROM BOTH ENDS?
-
Re: Ball Python Prolapse Mess!!!
you do push on the body(before the cloaca) but you do more pushing/rolling on the other end(tail)

I don't know if the OP meant you since yours is a RTB instead of a BP. But I hadn't seen any other threads on prolapses recently. But then again, I've been down in the lower threads mostly, Morelia and General Boas.
Link, where are those threads you referred to?

He tells me stories about what he sees and hears from people in general. Nothing specific about popping sort of speak.

So, you just assume that popping causes injuries, which prompted this thread? :confuzd:

For the last time I DO THINK if popping is done wrong it can cause injuries.
Show me it can't?
-
Re: Ball Python Prolapse Mess!!!
So you make a thread because you feel that Ball Python prolapsed are due to
Quote:
a bunch of failed attempts at popping.
Yet your vet who tells you
Quote:
about the horror stories all the time.
and yet and then
Quote:
tells stories about what he sees and hears from people in general. Nothing specific about popping sort of speak.
I am confused here so what was the purpose of the post again? :rolleye2:

I think that since you drew the conclusion that it does, the burden of proof is on you.
I've popped more ball pythons than I can count, without a single injury. I also can't remember anyone reporting on this forum at least, that anyone has caused injuries to their ball pythons by popping them.

Re: Ball Python Prolapse Mess!!!
BP.Net has the best drama of any snake forums I have ever seen and I have seen a ton. This place rocks. I love it. :salute:
Anyhow, I'm sure someone out there in snake-land has damaged their snake by popping incorrectly. Although, I have never seen, or read a case of it happening.
I'm not sure man. You put yourself between a rock and I hard place by starting this thread.
I for one, would admit if I was popping a snake and it prolapsed, because I would want the proper help. Heck, I have done dumber and admitted it. :P
Just me though.

Re: Ball Python Prolapse Mess!!!
So the guy thought all the Prolapses that have been showing up on this board as of late could be caused by bad popping.
And all you so called experts jump down his neck.
Some of you need to get over yourselfs:gj:
He is right about one thing there are some vids showing up Ralph Davis has one Adam has one i could see where a first timer can screw up and hurt an animal.
But some of you seem to think you cant hurt an animal from popping and your dead wrong and thats were he right.

No one ever said that!
The problem that people are having here is that the OP jump on conclusions rather quickly
