I love the responses given by posters here on Ol' BP.net.

This has to be the most friendliest forums on the internet.

In my opinion a UTH is a much better alternative then bulb heating. If you do decide on UTH heating, pleae spend a few more dollors and get a riostat, or thermostat.

As far as this bulb not heating to the same temp goes. Be sure and test the heat all around where the bulb is heating. Some bulbs project the heat beams in different ways. Some bulbs have a tighter more controlled heat beam, others have a wider less controlled beam.

    Example o O

Not the best example, but best I could do with my keys on this key board.

I would also advise picking yourself up a nice none contact thermometer. It makes testing area temps all over the cage much easyer and very fast.

    Just my 2 cents.

Also keep in mind since it's not a red bulb, you can't keep it on 24/7. If it gives off white light it needs to be turned out at night. Too much "daylight" will stress out your bp. So that may leave you in the same predicament as having no heat for the night time hours. A light that gives out blue light may work, I am not entirely sure on that one though.

Did you get the same wattage bulb as the infra red?

I think that your BP can stand to go one night with a light on. I know BPs are as breakable as glass, but, I would hate to think one night and a few extra hours of light will break one.

You will be fine, leave the light on for heat tonight. In the morning go pick him up a new heat bulb.

You know, ceramic heat type bulbs in my past experience seem to have a pretty long life and heat pretty well. They also don't put out any light at all. They do although cost more then a bulb. Something to think about maybe.

CHE is a Ceramic Heat emitter (gives off heat, no light)

I too use a infared red bulb, & those are always out of stock...
That is why I buy 2-3, even though I won't need it yet, but incase of burnt out bulb... I live in the country, so the nearest petstore is like 45 min away.

    good luck
