    Please Help Me!!!!!!!!!!!
Please help me my ball python "thor" has been very angry for the past few days. I've had him for about two months and [he or she] has always been very mellow and curious. Thors tank is 80 on the cool side and 90 on the hot with a half log and a tree and a water dish big enough for him to soak in. I feed him a hopper about once a week. A week or two ago i tried a larger mouse he ate it but it stretched his head out alot. I think he may have gotten a wood chip stuck in his mouth that was on the mouse. I feed him in a seperate enclosure. Now when ever i try to pick him up he just hisses at me. He only sits in one corner of the tank and hardly moves. I am so worried please help me. Thanks

Maybe he is going into shed. They can be moody when they are in shed because they can't see as well and feel vulnerable. Is his belly pink or are his eyes cloudy or bluish?

1 - Lose the log they don't offer enough security and get two of the same hides one for the hot side and one for the cool side.

2- Lose the big water bowl ball pythons don't soak unless somethings wrong.

    3- Whats his humidity?

With a name like Thor, what do you expect, LOL. I agree with the hide suggestion and with the possibility of a shed coming on, they do get moody. Make sure his humidity is 50-60%. He may also need larger prey items. He needs a mouse/rat about the same size as his belly. If his head stretches a little getting it down its ok.

If he's soaking is it possible he actually has mites?? when he soaks do you notice little bugs on his head at all?

For hides, anything short that will touch him on all sides will work, tupperware, flower pot bottoms etc.

What did you treat with? sounds like still might have some... I'd switch to paper towels, monitor and order in some pam. Most commercial stuff doesn't kill eggs.

If you get PAM, follow the directions exactly. Hope it all works out.

By the way... PAM = Provent-a-Mite...not the cooking spray. :P

(And if you already know this, that's cool...but I thought I'd point it out for any new folks reading it that might go running into their kitchen for a can of non-stick-spray to treat their own mite problem. ;) )

I have one named Thor too. Good name. He was always cranky when we first got him because I was the 3rd owner and wasn't taken real good care of before I got him. He has mellowed out a lot since then but still gets angry while shedding.

My bp has always been an "active" one, but this past week, he has been hiding.. so I left him alone, last night he was all out again. Guess what? he was shedding too. SO he kept peeking his head looking at me.. ( I have my iguana, under his tank)

I defrosted a an adult mouse, layed it in his home, & within min - ate! Now he is being his active self again!!

Don't be afraid of it biting... looks like your doing good!:gj:
