The best valentine!!
:)Eighteen years ago I went thru a nasty divorce. Besides my boys , I had two wonderful stepchildren. I spent over eight years raising them as my own.Since they were not my biological children when the divorce was final I never was allowed to see them again. Today I got an email with their pics and will be hearing from my son John as early as tomorrow. It is so hard to believe he remembers me after so long. I can't wait to hear his voice. What a great Valentines Day. I have been crying for hours.:)

WOW! Than you are owed a triple, no, quadruple, congratz! I'm so happy for you, and to have this blessing come on Valentines Day... wow!
You know, before the rise of legal systems and codified laws, there was an ancient form of social law throughout Northern Europe that stated; if a man took on the raising of a child, that child was his and nobody could say otherwise. (Obviously this applies to women, too!)
Congratulations again!

Re: The best valentine!!
Congrats. I have an uncle (in law) who went through a nasty divorce and his daughter who he thought was his turned out to be some other man's due to his wife cheating. After raising her for 8 or 9 years she was taken from him. He doesn't care if she's biologically his anymore, he just wants to see her. He's got another 3 or so years and he's hoping she'll contact him. I can imagine how great it must feel. Congrats on re-connecting and the new grandchildren!

In my heart they have always been my children. It's good after all these years to know they are safe and happy too!
Thank you!

Re: The best valentine!!

Re: The best valentine!!
That's truly wonderful! What a surprise to find out you have 3 new grandkids!
They say that sometimes kids, as kids, don't always realize which parent (or step-parent, or whatever) truly cared about them and was really trying to do what was best for the kids. But later, as adults, especially when they have their own kids, they will understand and appreciate it.
I'm sure you were a wonderful parent to them while they were with you, and that is obvious by them getting in touch with you again so many years later!
I'd be curious, if you don't mind sharing, how old they were when you took them in and when they were separated from you.

Re: The best valentine!!
When they came to live with us they were 4 and 6. And they were with us 8 yrs. I know they wanted in touch with their brothers, not sure how fast they want to move on a reunion, so I will wait and see. It is so good to know they are healthy and happy!! You always try to be a good parent, but at times it is rough. The girl was old enough to know I was not "her mom", so it was difficult at times. She was always missing her birth mother.
I'm just so happy to hear that they are alive and well. When you don't see someone for years,it is scary.:)
