Your Personal Anthem
I was contemplating a couple of things, and I wanted to know:
Do you have a Song, a Personal Anthem, that represents you in the best way???
If it plays on the radio or on your Ipod, etc., you feel better and refreshed?
What song is it?

Re: Your Personal Anthem
Anything Johnny Cash. but if I had to pick one song I guess it would be "One Piece at a Time"
-
Re: Your Personal Anthem
Money By Pink Floyd
But anything Floyd works for me.

Re: Your Personal Anthem
There are actually quite a few songs that make me feel better or refreshed or just happier in general...
But I gotta say, the one song that I have always, always, always gone back to as my theme song is "Praise Chorus" by Jimmy Eat World. The music is upbeat and gets me moving, and the lyrics are awesome!
"Are you gonna live you life standing in the back, looking around?
Are you gonna waste your time,
Gotta make a move,
Or you'll miss out.
Someone's gonna ask you what it's all about.
Whatcha gonna have to say for yourself?"

Re: Your Personal Anthem
There are many, but probably the best is 'Bittersweet Symphony' by the Verve
-
Re: Your Personal Anthem

"Im just Drinkin, Smokin Straight West-Coastin" - Sums it alll up!

Re: Your Personal Anthem
Usually the hard partyin' lyrics of one Mr. Kid Rock do it for me.
"Midnight Train to Memphis" is the one!
-
Re: Your Personal Anthem
2 songs for me actually.
"Tomorrow" by Sixx A.M.
With Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue.
And if you like a little more dark music. A darn good one is "Bittersweet" by Apocalyptica featuring Ville Valo from H.I.M.

Re: Your Personal Anthem
Anything by the Black Keys
-
Re: Your Personal Anthem
Anything H.I.M will do it for me. Especially Soul on Fire

Re: Your Personal Anthem
LIfe is Beautiful by Sixx am, Nikki Sixx.
Probably for the very same reasons the song even exists! Very refreshing when you know you aren't the only one who has survived an addiction, and see life in a whole new light.

Theme "band"? Definately Smashing Pumpkins!

Re: Your Personal Anthem
Schizophrenic Conversations by Staind
"Schizophrenic conversations that I'm always having with myself
I hear these
Voices in my head competing, maybe I could use a little help
I still have
Schizophrenic conversations when there's no one else around to hear
I long for
Solitude and peace within me, void of all the anger and the fear"

Re: Your Personal Anthem

Re: Your Personal Anthem
uggh that nikki sixx song is pure trash, sounds like two cats fighting in an alley, better one would be "she talks to angels"by the black crows, great song, as for me to get me going, any OLD metallica, battery, etc that's where it's at, new metallica sucks

Yes, a great song.
For me, I have such a strangely varied taste in music that my favorite song/anthem changes by the day. I have a personal anthem for nearly every genre of music. I will list a few:
I Don't Want To Be - Davin DeGraw
Castway - Benassi Brothers
All The Same - Sick Puppies
American Honky Tonk Bar Association - Garth Brooks
Cello Suite No 1 - Johann Sebastian Bach
etc.. :D

Hi,
Not really in line with the op but the piano version of "posession" but Sarah McLachlan and "black velvet" by Allana Myles root me to the spot till the last echo's die away without fail.

I love Johnny Cash, but One Piece at a Time? Cash didn't even write it. His ability to tell a story was amazing, but if I had to pick a song he didn't write I'd have to go with Highwayman by Kris Kristofferson. :gj: The Highwaymen rock.

Re: Your Personal Anthem
Mine changes all the time, there's so many songs and artists I adore! But off the top of my head, or at least at this very moment...

Re: Your Personal Anthem
Mine changes all the time too..... But an all time fav that always make me "move" is TUSK- Fleetwood Mac.....

Re: Your Personal Anthem
This might sound ridiculous. I am a die-hard metal fan and my favorite band is Type O Negative. I Love classic rock too. but..
When I am feeling down, I pop in Hall and Oates. I canNot not laugh and be cheered up hearing them! It sounds stupid, and it is, but it is true and there, I admitted it.

Re: Your Personal Anthem
Ok, anyone laughs and I'll hunt you down. For me, it's John Denver.
I was named after one of his songs, my father used to sing them for me all the time, and I've developed my voice and love of singing through his music. He was almost a mentor... My two favorite songs that really lift me up are 'The Garden Song' and 'Calypso'. Also special to me is 'For You', which I have "given" to my boyfriend and sing for him often.
Otherwise, since I love almost all music, it depends on my mood. Metallica and Sisters of Mercy for a metal mood, Weird Al all the way for silly stuff, Mozart for classical, and almost any Irish folk songs. :)

Re: Your Personal Anthem
