    Jail break !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I got home the other night and one of my BP was missing. seems I didn't push his tub in all the way and he got out. :( I have looked all over the house and can't find him, I suspect he may have gone into the heat vent.

you all have any tips or tricks that I can use to draw him out?

My spider got out once. Found him 3 rooms away wrapped up around the aquarium plumbing.

Look EVERYWHERE. Small dark nooks. Inside shoes. etc etc

There are a few other tricks that I have seen round the net.
If he is small enough to fit, try putting a mouse in a 2 liter bottle and strategically place it.
You can put those plastic shopping bags in different corner/along walls/in doorways and listen for him to slither over one.
Some folks suggest lines of flour in strategic locations, when he disturbs it you will get an idea of where he has been and where he might be headed to.

    ahh sweet.

I was thinking abot taking my spare 20 gallon tank and putting a live mouse in it and just leaving out in the open with the heat pad turned on and two hides in it?

I am not exactly living in the house yet so there aren't to many places to hide. :(

That sounds like a good plan. I've had snakes escape three times. Each time I failed to find them until they came out into the open on their own, even though I had them contained in the snake room. In all cases the snakes were fine.

Where do they go if they get into the heat vent? We had a snake dissappear a while ago and we suspect he went into the heat vent because its not too far from his cage and we couldn't find him anywhere else.

Wow! How do your snakes get out? Is it just human error or....?

Also, check anywhere warm, i.e. behind and underneath the refrigerator, dryer, ect. Also try to stay calm, and just keep looking! And figure out how to fix however he got out, because they seem to remember escape routes and will be right back out again if you don't fix the problem. Good luck, and keep us posted!

If the bigger ones push hard on both sides of the bins in my home-made racks, a slight gap is created on the sides.
I'm amazed they can fit through a space so small, and it's only caused three escapes in a year out of 50 snakes in those bins.
They're in a sealed temp/humidity controlled room with the vents taped over, so getting beyond the snake room isn't an issue.

Yeah I think I may have not pushed the tub all the way back onto the rack??? causing a little gap for him to escape.

My next rack will be more secure.

Also my house is still under mucho construction and I don't have any doors on my rooms or vents on my heat ducts :(. I was painting and stuff and just never got around to getting that finished.

Unfortunately I've had to deal with an escaped snake before and my experience led me to do a little article on tracking them down. Take a look and see if it doesn't help you out. Either way I hope you find your snake!

    Help! My snake escaped!

When I was younger I had an escaped cornsnake. It took me over 2 weeks to find him. We finally found him in my brother's room wrapped around the warm computer we leave on 24/7.

I once had a water snake that would leave his tank and then just pop back in a week later when hungry.

Uh when my snake escaped I found him in my closet, in an old suitcase, inside of a shoe. Check under dressers. Pretty much check the immediate surroundings. Good luck finding him.

I lost one of my pythons in the house for four days. I tore the place apart trying to find him. One day I came home for lunch from work and had an idea to look behind the fridge.

I rolled the fridge out...and sure enough there he was behind it. Thank god he wasn't underneath or he would've been smushed.

I've seen many different racks on this forum so I don't know if it would work in your case or not but there is a video that somebody posted and it shows the keeper inserting a pin in the front of the rack after the tub was slid back into place. If you could do something like this than at least it would get you into the habit of making sure the tubs were pushed in all the way.

If you didn't see the video but want to see what I'm trying to explain, let me know and I'll gladly search for it and post the link.

I hope you find your bp soon!

Yep, that's a good idea Tanya. I have racks from Reptile Basics and Rich builds them that way: each has a hard plastic pin that forces the keeper to be methodical and careful. It's a nice safety design! ;)
