Jaxson, a question
does he have a short face to anyone (nose to neck wise)? are his eyes too big?
We went and looked at some other boas today (mainly columbian babies and other boa adults, including hogg island and true red tails) and jaxson just looks out of proportion. is it because hes a baby? (or am i just paranoid)

I also saw some at the shop today (different reptile shop) and alot of their columbians had HUGE bumps on their noses.. as if it came from them hitting/bumping it on glass/wall of their enclosure. the man claimed its similar to a bruise and will go away. is that true? (were not getting another one and even if we did it wouldnt be from there im just wondering how much truth was behind his statement)

Re: Jaxson, a question
I think you just wanted to show him off!!! lol
He looks fine. Babies tend to have the appearence of big heads usually, they grow into them with time
-
Re: Jaxson, a question
I agree, he looks pretty normal to me. He's just a little boy, give him some time! :)
None of my Columbians have bumps on their noses, but then, none of mine are rubbing to get out, either. I wonder if these Columbians you are looking at are true red tail Columbians? Just because you keep referencing the longer noses, which are more typical of the true red tails (I think it makes them look more regal).

Re: Jaxson, a question
ladywhipple: perhaps...the guy said they had alot of variations, the bump on the nose was prominant too.. they do have more elongated almost elegant looking heads but that goes without saying there WAS a huge age and size difference :) im just hoping hes not the dorky kid in class with his goofy head and huge eyes lmfao! thanks for the input both of ya'

Re: Jaxson, a question
Aww, you had me chuckling with the goofy kid reference!
He doesn't seem to look goofy to me... just adorable, as all baby boas. Here's a pic of my little Gwyd (lighting sucks):
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...2/000_0986.jpg
And a crappy pic of Severus (who now lives with Jo and Mike) when he was just a baby:
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...v/000_0491.jpg
Jaxson's nose may look a smidge more rounded, if you're really looking close, but that could be anything... it could be hoggie influence, or it could just be him.
I think he's adorable, personally, and I also think he's going to grow up and make a very nice looking boa kid for you. :gj:

He's a Super Motley CA (I stole the picture from someone off of Kingsnake and don't plan on using it for any purpose other that looking at it and saying awwwww), but those eyes just slay me!

"What's that over there? Wait, what's that? Hey, who're you? Where you going? Why you stickin' that thing in my face? Hey, over there looks cool! Wait what's that over THERE?"
Lol, I don't think they ever sit still for very long. Even ol' Kinkers who doesn't move so well... once she's got her coils figured out, she's off and checking things out. It's so much fun to have that big fat six foot butt crawling around the living room, looking under the couch, curling around the TV stand, attempting to climb onto the dining room chairs...
He looks VERY light in that full body shot, Ashley, very nice. You might notice him going through some light and dark phases. Hoggies sometimes have drastic phases they go through, and I've noticed it in my Columbians too... so no worries if he's really light one day and gets darker the next.
Nice catch, truly! I'm glad you enjoy him so! My boas are truly a joy to me.

The gentleman at the Reptile shop did tell me their color can have variations, thanks for the heads up ;) im even making a new flickr account so i can have a file for all our snakes since i dont put them on my website.

Re: Jaxson, a question
Boas....Addicting....No way!!!
It seems that central american localities have that "short" nose and big eye thing you are talking about as babies the most
You can kinda see it here

Re: Jaxson, a question
I think some babys just look this way...
These three are siblings and all have short noses and odd head shapes compared to their parents...who have the more typical long head...
Their short noses are really strange looking as well considering they are half Suriname...
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...dbabies058.jpg
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...dbabies156.jpg
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...dbabies203.jpg
Of course this was the weirdest head of the litter...but I suspect genetics are involved here...I actually thought this little guy was dead when he was born because of that bizzare head:O
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...roswell135.jpg
Some Central American boas, though, keep those stubby noses their whole life...it's hard to say in the case of your little guy...he may outgrow it, or not...
The progress and changes of baby boas are always fun to observe as they grow up...:D
And as far as the bumps on the noses of the petstore boas, they get those from constantly trying to escape the cage they are in...most of the time the bumps will go away if husbandry is improved...but I have had a few boas with old rubs where the bump was still there...scar tissue remains...
