We Grew by Three - Craiglist Girls

So, as I occasionally do, I was browsing the CL ads locally and came across an ad where someone was re-homing five ball pythons, four girls and a male.

By the time I contacted him, he was down to the four girls, and we agreed to meet today, and allow me to sex them. Three girls and one male. Here they are!

This little one his girlfriend named Pickle, and Pickle she will remain - I love that name! She's HOT!

This girl was named either Bertha or Molly, I don't remember which was which - but she's very "enchi-ish" looking to me, although I know she's not. And she's got some stuck eyecaps which I'll see if they take care of themselves on her next shed.

Wow Robin those are beautiful! Almost all the snakes I see in the Houston Craigslist look horrible! I wouldn't mind rescuing them at times, but there's no way I would pay 100+ for them... :(

Well, I got a package deal - the snakes, their tubs, flexwatt and a brand new Ranco thermostat - for about the price I'd pay for the tubs, flexwatt and Ranco alone. Oh yeah, and the water dishes, I'll need to make some hides.

Awesome pickups! After reading threads like this so often, I have also taken to scanning CL almost every day... just in case... :)

I love the second one! :gj: How good of you to give them a good home.

Did you find these in Kennesaw? I think i saw this ad, and was going to check them out a few days ago but the guy never picked up the phone:confused:

I think i do remember the pattern on these though from the pictures, they are really nice!

Sounds like you got a great deal :) Lovely ladies. I love the contrast between the first and second female; how the first one has such bright white up the sides, while the second one has that brown/yellowy look instead. And the last one looks really unique and black-backy!

Yup, same guy. But he didn't post pictures in his ad, he e-mailed the pictures to me. We've been communicating mostly by e-mail, and we talked for about an hour on Wednesday. He's keeping his spider, pastel and lesser males.

You find all the hotties!

I went to see a CL 5 year old female last week, and it was a little scrawny male in a big tall glass tank with stuck on shed. I almost bought him out of pity, but my bf would have killed me.

Thats him, he sent me pictures via email. And he told me that he thought one was a Yellow belly but the picture told me that none of them were.

Yup, he told me Wednesday that he was talking to some kid's mom who had a lesser, so I figured that might be you. No, he didn't think any of them were YB, he didn't understand terms and said he thought one was a possible het ivory, which I "educated" him about.

Very nice! I've gotten 4 snakes from CL!

I so freaking hate you. Ok, not you but your luck! In all the time I've been watching CL I've managed to get one hatchling--an underweight male with insane stuck shed and a boat load of giardia. I bought him out of pity and got him all nice and fat and healthy but still. You always get the big, gorgeous girls!

I scan it every one or two weeks. Sometimes you find a some nice animals, sometimes not. I usually pass on most of them. This is my third CL adoption.

Awww, that's so sad, but we can't save them all, unfortunately. The fourth animal was gorgeous, but was a boy, and I just couldn't take on any normal males.

They're a little thin, although the pictures don't show it - the bigger two anyway - I'd guess them to be about 800 grams, but they could easily be over 1000 with a few good meals in them.

Yeah, when he e-mailed me "I have an idea" and proposed a package deal after we'd agreed on a price for just the animals, I had to jump on it. The Ranco is brand new too. Didn't have to run to Walmart to pick up water bowls and tubs - that was great!

You gotta name the last one "Dottie"....just GOTTA. :D

It helps to be in a big metropolitan area, I guess. I'm surprised there aren't more in Savannah - it's not a small town by any means.

Hey Robin.

As I noted on another thread they are gorgeous, the more I look the prettier that first one gets.

Just knowing they were in tubs, with a t-stat, and flexwatt, I assume makes the decision a bit easier. C-list is so hit and miss.

People up here always want crazy prices for the snake, and when you get down to it they want to be reimbursed for all the crap they bought (glass tank, heat lamp, etc.).

I am sure you have some great plans for them. :)

It's been my experience that most people are willing to negotiate prices, at least here in Atlanta. I've got a whole year for the bigger girls to make plans for them and a couple of years for Pickle! :P

Meh, yeah there is one and I rather cringe at stepping foot in the place. The animals are all kept in cramped tanks with no hides, dirty water (when they have water) and feces all over the place. The little male I picked up orginally came from there and I had him tested for parasites right away because I just knew. The only larger bps I've ever seen there were priced SKY high and I just can't pay that much for a snake that I know I'm going to have to treat for who knows what (especially when I could get a female of the same size shipped to me from reputable breeder for a much lesser price). :(

So, I got some weights on these girls today.

Pickle - 340 grams
2nd - 808 grams
3rd - 1002 grams

pickle is a Blurry! I love that girl...
