Just found out today that the city where I live is considering a proposal to limit the amount of reptiles/amphibians to a total of 6.All these municipal codes are getting out of control. Looks like a may have to relocate soon!:confused::confused:

Re: City Proposal 6 reptiles total Ordinance
What city are you in? Any links?
Re: City Proposal 6 reptiles total Ordinance
Well, don't just sit there, go to city hall and speak your mind. Ask them if they plan on limiting the number of fish a person can keep in an aquarium too. How are they going to enforce this? What other types of animal ordinances do they have? Recently in St. Paul they passed an ordinance against keeping sugar gliders. There was a notice posted in the paper about the impending city council vote and there was plenty of time to send in comments. You know why the ordinance passed? Because NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON showed up to speak against it. A lot of these laws get passed simply because there is nobody voicing an objection.

I will not be sitting on my hands ! I have drafted a letter to the city council and am encouraging others to do the same. I will be at the next council meeting with facts to present to the public. Under the current proposal even dog owners will be limited to 2 dogs. This is a rural city that lies on the edge of the feather river in northern calif. I will be posting in a more active forum titled letters to the editor that will be viewed by more of the puplic than thier post comment section. If this proposal passes I will be relocating across the city limits into the county.

Im typing my comment right now haha
Re: City Proposal 6 reptiles total Ordinance
It looks to me that replies on that link just go to the newspaper. Make sure you get your comments to the place that matters, which in this case appears to be the city council.
Re: City Proposal 6 reptiles total Ordinance
Most urban cities and/or countys have laws that limits the number of pets per household - I know that our city as a limit of 3 animals (any type) per single family dwelling. You can get a permit to have more - it requires paperwork, a small fee and an inspection - it's not a big deal.

Most restrictions of three pets usually means dogs and cats. Small pets don't usually fall under that restriction in most counties. this is the first I have heard on counts of birds and reptiles. Usually the only time they are even looked at is when there are so many they are not being taken care of. If I was restricted to 3 or even six it would be a sad day.:(
Re: City Proposal 6 reptiles total Ordinance
Well this is just stupid, does the city not have anything better to do? Like fix roads and repair schools instead of wasting time on B.S. that wont matter anyways even if it passes. How would they know if you had 3 or 30? I live in northern california to, so what is to stop my city from doing the same. Stupid i tell ya.
Re: City Proposal 6 reptiles total Ordinance
Maybe they can limit the number of kids one can have, or better yet, make you take an IQ test before you spread your legs?!?!
