New here...
Hi!
My name is Jamie and I have been an avid herp lover from the day I was born. I currently keep a variety of chameleons, bearded dragons, geckos and of course BALLS!!
I got my first ball about 3 years ago and am now up to 7... and expecting a few more (spiders and possibly a bee or 2?) in the next year..... Wow are these guys addicting or what?!
Right now I have 1.1 normals (Carma and Chaos), 1.0 Pied (Narcissus), 1.0 Albino (Elrich) , 0.2 Het pied (Medusa and Echo) and 0.1 Het albino (Calypso).
I look forward to learning from all the wonderful people here!!
Well, I'm off to ask my first newbee question!

One question, are those breeding or simply house together permanently?

OMG! too cute!
I'll be very interested to hear about your setup to keep Chameleons! I want to start so badly but am worried to death about heat and humidity (I live in the Northeast and don't have a dedicated herp room)

Welcome aboard and oh my God that has got to be the cutest chameleon pic I have ever seen. I was waiting for the baby to say "Moma".
Great snakes too. That Pied looks like a G-stripe almost.

Re: New here...
I think chameleons are fascinating, I love the way they move their body and the way they move their eyes.
I think we are not gonna get bored with your pics any time soon :gj:

Amazing photos! Welcome to bp.net and I hope you stick around and show more photos. I will have to ask you stop showing such cute and awesome chameleons though as I'm already having a hard time keeping my wife from wanting one! ;)

I looked through some of your other photos Jamie, and they're amazing!!! I withdraw my earlier statment and you should enter in this one:

What exactly is involved in the keeping of chams? They've always been a favourite of mine, but the husbandry has intimidated me to be honest.... Much like the feeding of an adult beardie does (1000+ crickets a week?!?)

Re: New here...
Oh my goodness! No more baby cham pictures, I just can't handle it. You will be seeing a news story about some chic in Texas exploding from cute overload!
Welcome!

LOL, I think an adult beardie would "pop" with 1000+ crickets in a week :P
Well, chameleons can be tricky, but if you have the environment set up right, half the battle is won... In all honesty, I spend more time taking care of the chams food than I do the chams! Yep, breeding bugs is fun.....:weirdface
I have quite a few chams, so I "automated" as much as I could with automatic misters, drainage systems that take the dirty water out of the house, humidifiers set up to hold levels steady and all lights ect on timers.. All supplementation (calcium/vitamins ect) on schedules so I can keep track easier....
I love the challenge of keeping them healthy and thriving.... and after a year of "sitting on eggs" to see those "wobbly" eyes peeking at me... well it's almost better than sex...almost!

Re: New here...
Chameleon eggs take a year to hatch? Or is it a year from first breeding? Even still that is a long period of time. Amazing pictures!

Re: New here...

Well, the length of time depends on a lot of things... species, temps, diapause periods. On my last few clutches, one went just shy of a full year, one went 13 1/2 months and one went in 9 months
The incubation time is considered from the time the eggs are layed.
Some species can hatch in just a few months (pygmies and some smaller species) while others can take up to 2 years! (parsonii)
Then there are the chams that give live birth! Too awesome!
Thanks for your compliments on the pic's :D

LOL, like I said before, I could bore you guys to death with cham pic's :rolleye2:
From what I understand, Veiled and Jackson's chams have set up shop in your neck of the woods (what hasn't? ).. You should keep your eyes in the trees!! I will be down there again this summer and I will help you look! :gj:
