Dixie Reptile Show - April 19th

OK - who's up for a road trip in April to the Dixie Reptile Show in Birmingham, AL? This will be the third time for some of us, and we have members from GA, AL, MS and LA attend in the past.

Usually we'll arrive Friday evening and check in at a local LaQuinta Inn and leave on Sunday.

Saturday we'll all gather and head over to the show (which is a small show, but it's still fun with the group). Then we usually all have dinner at a local restaurant. Both Friday and Saturday evening we end up in someone's room and just hang out and talk shop.

The show is Saturday, April 19th, so for those that want to make it a weekend, Karl and I will get there Friday evening, April 18th and leave on Sunday, April 20th.

OK well I am going to be there this time..I might also bring one of my animals for some people to see and give options on..

Very cool! Hope that Trey can make it again, Justin makes it this time and that Tim and Monica can come!

One of my vendors plans to come - she's super cool and a lot of fun - may even make it a weekend with us.

And of course, anyone else who is within traveling distance that wants to join us - it's SOOOOOOO much fun hanging out for that weekend! Come join us!!!

Oh, and I definitley plan to bring my new blurry for folks to see in person - she's a smoker!

Get a suite so we have more room to hang out and Karl can crash early if he needs to - he has a hard time hanging late! :P

K - I just reserved a suite this time too - rates were pretty darn good! Ours is the smoking suite, yours can be the non-smoking one!

Uh oh... I'm not sure if I'll be there or not. I believe that's the last weekend of the my kids spring break, and we may be travelling back from MD and PA. I've got to get it worked out, so I may try and come back early or not go at all.

I'm hoping to still come though. :oops:

Hmm, we might have to make that show as well, I know Trey and Jami are cool, and I still have to meet the rest of the group, so we might have to make a go of this. I hear the show isn't much for purchasing, is that right? I heard this from the Leopard gecko community, is it better for the Ball Pythons?

I would agree with regards to geckos. Go without the expectation of finding anything, but have money "just in case". There's an ATM there too.

The first time we went, there wasn't anything I wanted. The second time we went, I got a great Jolliff line Tiger, double het snow from Michael. He vended at that show - and I probably would have purchased the female too if I'd had the funds.

The fun it hanging out with friends and talking "shop"! We'd love to have you!

Alright, we are going to have to do this, one way or another. We should be there, we being My wife Jamie, my little girl Caitlin and myself.

Should be fun! Can't wait to finally meet you! And if you have dogs, you can bring them to this La Quinta (one reason why we chose it - since it allows pets - we'll have our dog Diamond with us).

This makes Mr. Karl very, very sad. Family comes first of course, but we'll keep our fingers crossed that we'll get to see you! :(

Bumpity bumping! Two weeks from today, Karl and I will be heading to Birmingham - anyone else care to join the group? We'll be staying at LaQuinta at Cahaba Park Drive Friday and Saturday night. Can't wait to see everyone who's coming!

Can't wait to go either Robin, its going to be fun!! There are no more suites left, only King rooms left when we reserved ours. Reserve quick if you plan on going everyone, otherwise you might have to stay at another hotel. Oh, and Robin, I need to change my username, because I need to change to Prototype Pythons, because that is now my website, and I am changing Leggomygecko to Prototype Geckos because of a name conflict with someone who registered a name awfully close 10 years ago, and is now back into breeding, how do I go about doing that, do I need to reregister?

I just reserved my room. So me and Jami will be there Friday night. I can't wait.

Looks like we will be rolling in around 7:30, but I am sure everyone will have already gone out by then, but maybe we can meet up for the chat afterwards, then we have Saturday as well. :banana:

I'm not sure what time we'll arrive, but 7:30ish is not too late for dinner, although restaurants close up there around 10 for some reason. We may also be getting in a little later. Shaun, keep in mind that you'll also gain an hour when you get to B'ham, as they are an hour behind us.

Oh, and everyone going will have my cell phone number, so just call when you get there and we'll hang out in the second room of our suite and have a few beers (or sodas, for those of us that just don't drink much).

Ooops, yep forgot about the hour difference, that helps out alot, so maybe we can arrange some dinner about 7 or so Alabama time.

Talked to Trey the other day, they are definately there on Friday and I think he said he would be there in time for dinner as well, but I could be wrong on that part.

Oh good! And Alan just confirmed that he's driving down after work on Friday from SC (grunt - and I can't remember the numbers after his name! LOL).

Alan, do you think you'll make it time for dinner? I don't know what time you get off.

Cool, I am guessing we are talking about Alan Bosch right? It is going to be fun, entertaining learning experience for us, we can't wait, we are still learning, so soaking up as much info we can from other breeders is priceless, and to have fun at the same time is just icing on the cake!

Jami and I will be there Friday night. Hopefully in time for dinner. I can't wait.

Nope, not Alan Bosch - I'm not sure of Alan's last name. Oh, and Michael Jolliff will NOT be there this weekend, he e-mailed me back and said he just doesn't have that many animals for sale right now to make it worth it.

So - it looks like it's going to be a really nice weekend weatherwise! It is raining on Friday, but not sure if it will have passed by the time we get there or not.

Less than 24 hours from now we will be having some fun in Birmingham, well as much fun as you can have in Birmingham, its going to be a blast can't wait to put a face with the names!!

Oh trust me - there is fun to be had in Birmingham, and you don't even have to leave the hotel! The last time Ed was there, I laughed harder than I have in ages! My stomach hurt by the end of the weekend!

I'm getting off work at 2 tomorrow, we hope to be on the road by 4, and in B'ham by 5 their time (two hours driving, one hour gained by time change).

I also plan to bring a small dufflebag for "smuggling" any Saturday purchases into the hotel! You guys are welcome to smuggle your purchases in there too! :P

Christie - if you read this - I really hope you're able to make a road trip! Shaun's little girl will be there, so your kids are welcome too of course!

Ed's already picked out one restaurant (a tavern type restaurant) as a possible dinner or lunch option!

Woohoo, yep, we will be there about 6:30 or 7 Birmingham time. We aren't picky at all as far as restaurants, so just tell us where we are going, lol. It is going to be a good time, we love laughing, so bring it on Ed. Christie bring on the kids, my little girl will be there in full force, so we can use anything to help wear her down, that little one is going to be sleeping in the bed with us, and geez is she ROUGH!!!
