If I had as much on the line as you Brian I would probably be stressed too. I have 2 boys that haven't performed yet and am starting to think of plan B.

Best of luck to everyone and their projects.

Shoot bro. EVERY YEAR! I look at a snake and say now she did nto take. Look at her. Then a few weeks later you can then see she did.

This year is no different. I have a yellow Belly I swear hates females. lol.

Also Boa breeding is the worst IMO. Man why does it take a male boa so long to do his thing lol

This is my first breeding season and my wife promised that we would get more snakes if I pull this one off. And then I see all these pics in this forum on clutches, ovulation and even Brocks g-stripe that hatched!
So I'm getting really stressed. You know, postal shooting stressed!

I have been pulling my hair out daily. I will not have any left at the end of the season. I check on my girls every day, but no ovulation!!! Hopefully they will start soon.

Stress??? What is that?? OH you mean taking photos every day to see if you are missing something? Or maybe watching them, worring about disturbing them, worring about missing something. That kind of stress?? :D I am so stressed this is my first year that I got a lock and that LOOKS like I MIGHT get eggs I am beside myself. If either of my girls give me eggs I will do the happy dance then start the worrying again about the hatching. But for now I am content about worring about just getting eggs.

Who am I kidding if i say that I am not nervous! No one.
I have this inner fear that I will spend all of this time and money on my incubator and heating it. And then no one will produce :) Then.. once the eggs do arritve, I am afraid of a power outage or natural disaster endangering them..

It's nice to see I'm not alone on this one. I guess in this case misery likes company.lol I hope the year turns out good for us and everyone else too. I'm sure it will, it always does. But man it sucks when you are looking at these perfect females and there are these tiny follicles:) Best wishes!!! Brian(BHB)

    Brian,
I thought you were describing me in your original post. I just got my females ultrasounded, and I think if I get 5 clutches, I'll cut cartwheels in the front yard. I think it might just be a late season.

Good luck to everyone this year.

i think in the past few months i have spent more time in my snake room then i have spent anywhere else. checking temps, water, and rotating my males. and thats not even the stressful part watching for all the little signs is the worst.

I'm very stressed. last year I got nothing and I saw over a dozen locks with 1.1 normals. This year I'm going nuts cause im breeding my MOJO to 2 3000 gram females. Seen a bunch of lock ups so now its just a waiting game. I hope I win.

Re: Does anyone else get stressed about their Breeding season??
Think the worst part is thinking you feel follicles and a female looks somewhat swollen and then they dont, and then they are bowl wrapping and hanging out on the cool side and doing just like they are supposed to and then BAM back to the hot side and not doing anything as the are supposed to. Then wait big follicles and run thru that rotation which keeps me second guessing every other day. I love it and hate it all at the same time, just cant wait to get eggs so that i can add one more thing to my list of worries.

    Gary,
I think my yellow belly must be related to yours. They must have had a domineering mom.

Our YB male is doing really good this year (his first breeding year). We did have to laugh though when we finally put him with our biggest female. The male is about 700 grams, our big female is about 5 feet long and just over 3,200 grams.

We kept checking them and poor Riordan (the male) was slowly working his way down the big female wrapping his tail madly. Poor thing, we just had to laugh! I swear he was thinking "for gawd's sakes there has got to be an end to this female somewhere down here!"

Thankfully he finally found where he needed to be and got the job done but it was hilarious watching him try to figure out this big girl of ours.

Tell me about it. He is larger then the the shatter type one. ANd the shatter breeds anything he can. But not the yellow belly. I So what him to breed he is from a proven line that has produced ivories.

I just hope my carmels and Ghosts breed next season.
