yea she told me it wasnt the best lookin pastel, but i fell in love with it. Compared to the darker normals i have, it stands out like a sore thumb. ill post pics when hes done shedding.

Looks good, the only thing i dont like about the pastels they can look great when young and then as they age they can brown out bad and others can still look good. So only time will tell!

Re: What would you rate my pastel??
I think he looks like an average pastel. From what it looks, he will brown out when he gets larger, but sometimes it's neat to see the bronzing effect.

I'm biased and personally love my pastel, he's browned out considerably, but he still has a wild pattern and is getting lighter (not yellow) after each shed, making him look very goldish. ;)

Don't get me wrong, pastels are nice looking, but I don't see enough difference between them and a normal to justify the cost.

Of course, I could totally be missing something....

Sometimes you'll see a normal that is almost pastel, but usually not (in my experience!) Pastels are screamingly different than normals!! You ought to check them out in person, but here's my lemon pastel from NERD:

Don't let those brown baby pastels throw you off, a good pastel is worth it's weight in gold to me. The high blushing, the yellow that wont brown, just awesome.

I'm currently looking for a female, but I'm hoping for one just like Winston, (rabernets). He is a great pastel, and something to shoot for looks wise.
    http://www.newenglandreptile.com/ner...ll-python.html

Many pastel were just bred and bred, with no selectiveness. I've seen some UGLY pastels lately. I saw one guy with a "NERD" Lemon line pastel... didnt even look like a pastel. Ugly little thing.

A good pastel is bright, no browning, nice blushing on the back, often a crazy pattern, green eyes, purple(y) head and a clear belly. ;)

This is my male, he has browned considerably, but I like the contrast of the picture.

Re: What would you rate my pastel??
nice pastels everyone,, now will any pastel bred to a spider make a bumblebee regardless the yellowness?? or it has to be really yellow to produce a bee?

Re: What would you rate my pastel??
any ball that exhibits both the spider and a pastel traits is a bumblebee. But as a general rule, exceptional spiders mixed with exceptional pastels make for exceptional bees and vica versa. Quality goes along way with some morphs. Bees are a prime example. Todd

what qualifies a pastel as a pastel?

I've seen guys selling them , but I can't tell the difference between a pastel and a normal.

do all pastels have green eyes?

Re: What would you rate my pastel??
Well I'm new to the python world, and seeing as I have only one BP, and it HAPPENS to be a pastel, I'd say i'm pretty biases towards the pastels myself, for all those who don't see the difference. I'll post a pic of my dude, albeit he's a super pastel, I think there is a big difference between the normals and pastels, the yellow is just so much more "crayon" yellow than the normals who are more brownish. I also love the blushing you can get, I think lucifer below has some nice blushing as well. Either way, I like your pastel, I think he's gorgeous, I can definately see the difference between him and the normal, plus there are some awesome morphs you can get with a pastel!
