Racks
I was just wondering what should be the tub size for an adult BP and what should be the size for a hatchling. I was looking at freedom breeder racks and i saw this
http://www.freedombreeder.com/cage.php?cageID=26
Is that good for adult BP?

Re: Racks
Many people use 32Qt size tubs for average adult ball pythons.
Personally, i use mainly 41Qts for my animals, as i feel the 32's are much too small for some of the larger adult animals. ( i DO have a four slot rack for some of the smaller critters that use 32's, and i like it well enough)

Re: Racks
This would be the 41 qt rack that some people use to house large adult breeder females.

be alright with 15qts, just add stuff so they can hide.
Let me edit this, are you looking for a baby rack, or an enclosure for a small ball python?
if youre looking for baby racks, you can go with a smaller tub, and upgrade them, or sell them as they grow. If youre looking at an enclosure that isnt too massive, id go with the 15.

Re: Racks
I have Freedom Breeders and they are great racks. The only problem if you get the hatchling rack you are looking at is in a few months they will grow out of it.
Why don't you look at a Vision rack, it can be changed from a hatchling to a sub adult to an adoult CB70 tub all in the same rack or have all 3 on different levels if you want. It depends what your needs are. Most racks are a one tub size rack, BP's grow fast and unless you want to have several racks for many snakes, i would check into the Visions, i have 2 now as well as Animal plastics and Freedom breeders.

Which vision rack are you refering to? I am so confused... I'm open to options..

Tell us what you're looking to house now and in the future, and then we can make some suggestions.

Re: Racks
Here's what I use:
If you're looking for a display cage: http://www.reptilebasics.com/2x3-Cag...h-p-16286.html
If you're looking for a rack system:
http://www.reptilebasics.com/Reptile...p-1-c-251.html
I use these because I don't have a dedicated snake room (yet) and so my room temps dip at night. I like these cages because they are very well made, have the heating installed, and are shipped in one piece. I like the racks because the tubs are enclosed on three sides and so it's easier to maintain constant temps. As with the cages, the racks come complete with belly heat, and the tubs and shipping is included.
Rich also sells Helix t-stats, and temp guns; both important items for use with a rack system. I have a few of the 'sweater box' sized rack units and a few cages also. I will also purchase a couple of 70's for the larger females as well as a shoebox rack for hatchlings next winter.
I hope this is helpful for you!

The Cb-70 rack can be changed to v-35 tubs or hatchling tubs one level at a time. Call Vision and tell them what you want to do and they will send you the correct spacers. Luckily for me they are 10 minutes from my house. if you have any questions feel free to ask, I enjoy helping fellow herpers make educated purchases:)

Re: Racks
I use 41-quart tubs. In case all of my snakes are large females one day, I want to have room ;)

Re: Racks
thank so much for your advise! this is for future breeding plans i was trying to estimate the cost of everything. I wanted to house hatchlings in a rack seperate from the adults. I also had similiar plans for the adults. I was just trying to map out my plans. Once again thank you for being pacient with me and my confusion. Thanks!:D:D:P:D:D

Here are two options...
either one of these racks can hold babies or adults or a combination of the two. The Vision rack is the better of the two for holding adults. The small tub is a little big for babies, but I provided a nice tight hide spot and the babies did just fine. The second rack is an Animal Plastics rack that I absolutely love. They come pre heated and all you have to do is screw them together. They tend to hold heat a little better if you don't have a designated reptile room because they are not an open system like the Vision rack. I have since sold my Vision rack and will be picking up an Animal Plastics rack at the NARBC show in Arlington next month. I am getting the CB 70 size for my adults.
