    About to lose my mind!!!
Ok so ive got 2 tubs set up the exact same way. Both on 2 thermostats. Temps monitored with accurites in each tub. Same size flexwatt on each tub. But I'm getting like 4 degrees difference on the thermometers. Same size tubs also.

Like for instance. The helix is set at 95. And in one tub I'm getting 91 degrees. The other one says 94???

Cold side set at 85. One tub says 81 to 82. The other one says 85????

And its opposite. One tubs cold side reads too cold. Hot side reads too high. And the other ones reads too hot on the cold side. And too cold on the hot side.

But the probes are located directly on the flexwatt!!! HELP!!!!!

    I'm literally going insane here!!!

Everything is the same. The hides are different sizes. And the water bowls are different sizes. I wouldn't think thatd make a difference.

Same size tubs. Flexwatts all the same size. I'm wondering if the accurites are just off???

I thought maybe a tempgun would help. But those are also a degree or two off in either direction.

    Anyone else have any ideas???

It maybe annoying but I wouldn't really stress to much about it as long as your in the 80-85, 90-95 catagory.

    Best of luck.

One for the warm side and the other for the cool side. A range between 90 to 95 degrees for the warm side and 80 to 85 degrees on the cool side.

It's a really good plan to get a temp gun when using racks! Lots of places sell them; I got mine from RBI and am very happy with it.
Are your racks stacked? If so, it matters where you put the probe...

Ball pythons thrive at those temps. Helps keep them from getting sick. If they are warm they go to the coolside, if there cold they can go to the warm side.

Yeah I'm gonna try and switch the thermometers littleindiangirl.

Its just weird how 2 identical setups can have degree differences of 4 degrees. Ill switch em and see what happens.

I have encountered the same situation with my new cages. They are identically the same, decorations and everything. I have them heated with flexwatt and a Helix, just as you do. My helix is set to 91 degrees and the probe is directly on the floor above the heat tape. The helix reads 91 degrees but my acurite placed right next to it reads 88-93 degrees. Also, the two cages never read the same for some reason.

I did some testing by moving the acurite probes around, and found that if you lay them down on the substrate with out securing them that they will seem to equalize after a while.

That being said, one acurite reads higher than the other no matter what. What can you expect from a $10 Wal-Mart product... I would go with the helix temp and not worry about it if the acurites are off by a few degrees.
