Anxanthic Pastel Spider

Anyone ever made one? Any pics? I think they would be amazing. Or has anyone ever made an anxanthic spider, or a desert ghost spider? Just wondering.

Those are very nice, but I'd like them better if there was some way to remove the dirty wash from the background pattern. I wonder what you could add to the mix to reduce that???

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by dirty wash.:confused:

Do you just mean the speckling of darker scales? If so do you like these better?

Those do look much better, but still not perfect. Dirty wash was a term that used to be used a lot with corn snake morphs where there is a lot of melanin left on the snake making it looks like someone threw a bucket of dirty water over the top of it giving it a somewhat dingy look. It refers to the dark spots and general darker background color. The axanthic spider still looks nice, but I was just wondering what could be added to the mix to clean up the background a bit. With corns we'd just work some brighter colored normals into the mix or even the hypomelanistic gene if you didn't mind losing most of the black.

With the axanthic spiders, I don't think you'd want to lose the black banding, but it would be nice to lighten up the background color and hopefully lose the spotting. Since you have so many other mutations to choose from with the ball pythons, maybe the addition of a fire ball, or a specter ball, or a vanilla ball or something along those lines would do the trick. Or maybe just a normal with nice banding and a clean pattern would do it.

It's a nice looking animal, but I was just wondering where the next level of improvement would come from.

will fire help? Technically it will brighter the animal so it'll lighten out the darker spot. Not sure I understand you correctly or not though.

Perhaps selective breeding or the addition of another morph... Desert spiders seem to have very clean backgrounds...

I think Fire would be one of the snakes that could help. I'm also interested in adding a Fire type clean up snake to this combo because it does not brown out but gets brighter with age. One of the reasons I haven't got into the axanthic is that it browns out sooo much when it gets older.

I agree, the desert does the same thing as a fire - lightens and then continues to lighten with age. Hopefully the price for deserts will becme more reasonable soon so I can grab one. :D

The one thing I wonder about with the fire balls is that the super fire does seem to have a variable number of yellow splotches that pop up. I wonder if the yellow splotching on them would cancel the axanthic effect or clean it up? Adding fire might be the most interesting way to go, you could see if the fire mutation could clean up the dark background on the axanthics or maybe axanthic would work to clear up the yellow splotches on the super fires?
