How much time?
Heres a question for everyone who owns 1 snake to 1000 snakes....
On average how much time do you spend workin with/on your BP's?(Cleaning, feeding, handling...anything that has to do with snake care)
I am curious to see how much time other people spend workin with/on their snakes. Right now I have 11 snakes and would say I spend roughly an hour a night for general cleaning and handling and then about 2 hrs on feeding day... total time spent a week caring for my snakes is about 9-10hrs.... How bout you?

Re: How much time?
90% of my time maybe, but if I dont count the time I spend thinking and talking about snakes then it's maybe 2 hours a week.

Re: How much time?
I spend maybe 3+ hours cleaning my snakes and snake room on Sundays. It takes me 2 hours onThurdays to feed my snakes. I then spend like 2+ hours cleaning out the rat bin and feeding and cleaning and sweeping floors. Plus I spend maybe 20 minutes a day spot cleaning and changing water.

Re: How much time?
I got 3 snakes. I'm usually always checking on them. Maintenance takes maybe 15 mins for spot cleaning. Every two weeks I tear apart everything and disinfect everything. That takes about an hour.
maintenance per week: 2-3 hours per week
Over time with snakes: 7-9 hours per week.
Actually just started breeding rats so I'm sure that will add on an hour or so

Re: How much time?
I spend about 30 minutes a day after work spot cleaning, checking water bowls and feeding and watering my chameleon, rodents and dart frogs, then I spend about 2 minutes on Wednesday or Thursday feeding the snakes that take f/t and a few minutes on Sundays feeding the live eaters. I clean and sterilize 4-5 tubs at a time, and have extra clean tubs ready. It takes me about 20 minutes each time with a scrub brush, showerhead, air compressor and paint sprayer full of Novasan. That's about 1 1/2 hours a month for cleaning. With driving to get rodents and stuff, it's probably about 16 hours total per month for everything.

Re: How much time?
We have 25 snakes of various species, most of them in racks. Daily time is maybe about an hour, checking everyone to make sure they have water, spot cleaning, making notes on anyone that has shed or is blue. There is also handling time, which can be anywhere from 30 min to an hour a day.
I also have the rat tubs to clean weekly, and daily feeding/water checks for them, too.
All told I'd say we spend about 10-15 hrs a week working with our collection, more if there is an outreach to do.

Re: How much time?
we have two.. we spend as much time as it takes to clean their cages (maybe 20-30min) give them water and food and thats it. I try not to handle our BPs too often (especially the new one who just got here)

Re: How much time?
I've never actually timed it. I have one BP and one Bearded dragon (who is currently brumating).
The BP takes 15 to feed on feeding day, and I take her out maybe 3-5 days a week, for 10-60 minutes. Right now she's crawling over me and the couch while I browse online. I clean as needed, and change the water as needed or weekly. I'd say... its about an hour of work a week, and a few hours a play.
The dragon, on the other hand [when not brumating], is fed greens and worms on a daily basis, usually poops daily too, so that needs cleaning. I try to take her out daily to play. And I do a full tank cleaning once a month or so, which takes an hour or so.

Re: How much time?
Every chance I get...I have reduced my collection down to around 100 breeders..."50 or so being balls"....plus offspring. I work usually from 9am to 5-7 pm....but as soon as I get home....I go straight for the snake room and clean, feed, organize, water, move males into different females enclosures, and clean somemore.....I absolutely love it....

lol I didn't pipe-in right away because I've only been a BP owner for a week and a half and my Metcal data for it is already enormous, so the time I spend probably isn't very representative.
I'd say about half an hour a day tinkering with the setup and general handling, another half-hour once a week for feeding. A total of about 4 hours for the one snake.

Re: How much time?
I spend at least 10 minutes a day playing with our BP. Our kids hold him most everyday also. Some days an hour or more. And I let him crawl around some too...
I spot clean every other day when I change the water. Feed, usually once a week.
Our bearded dragon on the other hand, like mentioned above, daily feedings/cleaning and he runs around the house at least 3 or 4 hours a day. Usually chasing the sun on the floor...

Re: How much time?
I haven't really ever timed it, but I check their tubs everyday to make sure they have water and to check conditions of the tubs. If any tubss during this check are dirty they're cleaned right away. My feeding day is thurs for my one female that has put her foot down on live mice and then friday for the rest of the F/T crew. Sat or Sunday I spend cleaning the cages again that need to be cleaned. I probably spend 3-5 hours per week maintaining my small little collection.
