Ooops sorry I missed this thread. I love Hooded rats, one of my very favorite markings and for some reason I've never had one with a genetic problem or poor temperment. Maybe I'm just lucky. Most, though not all, of my Hoodeds have come down from two foundation rats, Casanova and HoneyChild, and there were fanastic rats so that's part of it I guess.

A litter of 4 day old pinks with some nice Hoodeds mixed in it....
    http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...ayoldpinks.jpg

Father and son Black Hoodeds...Casanova and SuperNova....
    http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...Supernova1.jpg

Casanova, my first male Black Hooded...funny thing with his pattern...see the funny sort of hook coming out just before his shoulder color...that hook mark is on almost every single one of his hooded offstring....just of odd really....
    http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...reederMale.jpg

HoneyChild, a beige Hooded....her back markings aren't as uniform as Casanova's but mated with him, she consistently produced some really nice clean Hooded rats.....
    http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...withlitter.jpg

LisaMarie, my Fawn Hooded (showing off her new fashion statement bedding as a hat LOL)....
    http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...arieAug072.jpg

Stubby, who lost her tail as a pink though it did save her from becoming a feeder rat (this is an old picture of her as a weanling). She's lived a good life as a breeder in the colony and is now retired to granny rat status. She's a total sweetheart and completely in love with my husband. As soon as Mike enters the rat room she's bouncing around, begging to be picked up by Mike and bruxes loudly at him (the loudest I've ever heard a rat brux).....
    http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...odedFemale.jpg

I've got more Hoodeds, these are just a few of them that I had pictures handy of.

Very nice, i have a hooded breeding with two albinos, although im not very sure about rat genetics so im not sure what i'll get.

Does not haveing a tail hurt them any way with balance or something?

Well I can't say it hurt Stubby at all or at least I've never noticed it did. She's not genetically tailless though, it was nipped off accidentally when she was a day old. They do use their tails for balance while climbing and for heat regulation. I know Stubby doesn't do as well as some of the other rats if the rat room gets overly warm but since they've been in the new room which is much better regulated I haven't noticed her having any issues that way. The funny thing is she holds her stub off to one side, always has and rarely moves it.

Yeah, that would be the mean Petsmart dumbo that bit an employee and couldn't be sold, who loves to just cuddle in your arms and get head scratches while she bruxes - yup, that would be her!

*SIGH* The slightest bit of aggression and they're 'unsellable'. Of course, they never tell anyone that the reason the rodents are so aggressive is because no one EVER tries to be slow, careful, or considerate of them when reaching into their cages. OR that no one can ever just hold the animals and pet them to get them used to being handled. Nope, it's always thrust in a big hand and grab as fast as you can, no matter the species...

Supposedly, she bit an employee as they were cleaning her enclosure - the story goes that she ran out of her hide to bite their hand.

My suspicion is that she actually came and did a greeting nibble, which she does to me - it's far different from a bite.

In any case, it was my (and Deborah's) win - she was adopted to me for free.
