Photoshop-like free version for mac???

I've upgraded my mac and now unfortunately my photoshop 7 won't work. We are having a hard time figuring out what's going on with it but in the meantime I need a free version to create my magazine.

I thought perhaps some of you webGods could be of assistance? Any ideas?

I know about Gimp... is it any good?

Gimp is good, just not user friendly like photoshop. It should work just like photoshop, just trying to figure everything out will take a little bit of immersion.

I know there are other's out there, but I'm having a brainfart right now >.<

You should be able to pay for an upgrade to the latest version of Photoshop CS3. Upgrades are like..half the price i think. holy crap..worth every penny too. CS3 works wonders. dooo it!

i'm purchasing the full version of photoshop CS3 extended. it's on hold at the local macstation... sucks to have to buy it again... but on well.

i have gimp and i love it. the more you play, the more you learn! i discover new things everytime i use it! it's pretty awesome. go for it

You can find free full versions if you try. If you would like to save $500+ you could look. If you don't like pirating overpriced things you can just use the trial until it runs out.

Photoshop is unbeatable. Unfortunately Aleesh, I am in a similar boat. I had it on my old computer.. still do.. but it is the one not hooked to the internet. Now, my newer computer will not recognise the disk, even with the password and everything.. so I can co-miserate with your non-photoshoppiness. Glad you're getting it though!

ya it's really essential for my magazine... can't create it without photoshop... so i'll just do it.
