Ok perhaps you all can help me on this...I've noticed my Blood's colors are more distinct. He just looks so dam good and I'm aware they do this but I always thought it would be a minor change. Do the Black's do this to?

He is one handsome boy...digging his patterns too

MMM, dinner he says. lol. He's gonna be a good lookin boy! We need a thread with everyone's bloods and short-tails in it so I can drool all over my keyboard daily. ;)

Let's see, I haven't had the bloods for too long, but in that short time I have seen quite a bit of growing and color changing.

Onyx, when we first got him was a very even black/dark brown color on his back. He has grown so much since we got him, he's about 14-15 inches now, and his blushing is becoming really apparent.

Jade on the other hand isn't as black as she used to be. She is browning out I suppose. She's still a dark animal in most lights, but I when I take a picture of her, she looks very chocolaty. She also seems to be going through a growth spurt right now. We only ever feed her weaner pups, and she's up to 800 grams empty now. I would like to see her get dark, but her pattern suggests that she will be a dark brown snake, not a dark black like I would like. But she is still my favorite. :sunny: (actually, her and my albino BP are playing for favorite)

I'm waiting for next season for Jeff Hartwig, I would like to get a black head male to be Jade's future mate. I'm willing to wait for a male that will be a stunner.

And maybe an orange head female het albino for Onyx from VPI is in the future. :D *dreams happily*


So Earl, or anyone else, how's your blood changed in color??

The red on his back is a bit more dark. When I first got him I was a little disappointed in how dilluted he looked in coloring but now everything is coming out especially the grey on his head. When I went to feed him and took the cave off of him I had to stand there for a moment and blink.

He is now in High Definition. Blood in HDTV!

Oh yea. I mean, how can you tell which ones are going to shine (besides the parents looks) and be all crazy deep red? I guess when you raise enough, you just know. ;P

That's what I love about this species, there is always a surprise in store waiting for you.
