Last few questions before I pic up my BP?
    Hey everyone,
I've been lurking round the forums a bit and searching the net for a while and I've finally decided to order myself a BP (going on Thursday to check them out). Anyway... theres just a few things I feel unsure about.

firstly I was reading this care sheet:
    http://www.ball-pythons.net/modules....warticle&id=59
and it says that its best to have baby BP in a 10G, so I found the specs of a 10G tank (20x10x12) and bought a tub closest to that size as I could find (20x13x6).

However when I was reading some of the other threads I saw this:http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=55849
now he says the tank in the pic is a 10G however my tub looks a hell of a lot bigger

    <Pic will go here>

Have I just completely gone wrong here or will this still work?
Help would be greatly appreciated 'coz I know if its too big it'll freak them out. Thanks in advance people :D

you should be fine...just make sure that you have proper heating and temps and if you want you can always put more decorations in the tub to make it look more secure

I think your but size will be fine. Just get it all set up as if the snake were actually living in it....and let it run for a few days so you can work out all the temperature and humidity quirks before you put the little guy in there.

Welcome to BP.net! :handshake Congrats on choosing a BP. Very sweet snake to have!

The festive bottle of coke is so you can get a rough idea of the size.

P.S. BTW I'm getting a baby axanthic, ill post pics wen I get it :D
P.P.S. Thanks for the warm welcome, damn that was a quick reply lol

Another question guys, I was planning on using 2 15x11 ultratherm heat mats linked to 2 Habistat pulse proportionate thermostats, that sound ok ? I may also add a ceramic heat bulb?

There is no real need for daytime/nighttime bulbs assuming that the room your set-up is in has windows. I think most people use bulbs because they need additional heat. Make sure everything is set up before you get your snake, and if you are maintaining temps and humidity without lights, good job!!!! You don't need them.

    Welcome, and agreed.

Karma, nice avitar. I just got Pee Wee's Big Adventure for an early Christmas present. It's one of my favorite movies, and I plan to get a Pee Wee portrait tattoo soon.

I know you guys aren't going to like this but I'm getting it from the pet shop (it dose specialize in reptiles) but there aren't any breeders in my area and apparently he knows one in London.
