I want your rats

I am trying to compile a listing of all the different rat coat patterns and colors. This listing will be an article I'm writing about rat genetics and biology.

As it so happens, I don't have very many different rat patterns running around. So I'm asking for pictures of your rats! Any weird patterns, or just plain ol' regular ratties that you love. I want em all! I don't care! :)

You don't have to know what they are, but I will assume that everything you submit to me is your rat. You can post the pictures here on this thread, or you can email it to me at csilvern12@gmail.com.

Your full name will be watermarked onto all the photo's if and when I use them, and I will assume I have your permission to use them.

I could really use those pictures, and I am definitely looking forward to see what everyone has come up with! :D

this picture was taken as a baby, during a molt.. her markings are a bit more defined now if you want them i can post a more recent pic, but this one was in my pc..

this is Belle, shes a blue varigated hooded female with head spot and facial/chin markings, the mouth markings follow down her throat and into her belly.

ADORABLE!!! I'm on a waiting list for a breeder now for a blue-hooded :) Of course, she wont be used for breeding (or feeding either), and will only be a pet.. But still, I never lied to the breeder- but she doesnt know that I own snakes, either.. lol

Unfortunately, the girl in the pic didn't make it. 2 surgeries to remove tumors and then a 3rd inoperable tumor in her head was just too much for her...so for now all mine are naturally clothed but next time I get a naked one I will think of you

I did forget to add, Belle is a dumbo eared...in case you couldnt tell lol ill have to post some of the other rats, i had siamese, double rex, and a few others

Well I tried...I dropped him in a box and while waiting for the Fedex man to get here chewed his way out and crawled back in his cage with his harem...strangest thing I ever saw. :rofl:

I have a blue rex; unfortunately I am not home now but I will get a pic in a few days. Hope I am not too late! I have what I think are hooded minks, but they are still pretty small and might change color..

What a ham! Cute little pups you got :). This is an open thread for a while, no time limit. especially if you get some strange markings :D That pup in the first 2 pics looks like a split cap blaze rex. (if they even count that as a blaze) Cute little booger.

Yeah; Rupert, the blue rex male, is quite a friendly guy. I don't really handle my females much, except for cage cleaning. But Rupey is the type of rat that you can take out, let walk over you, etc; more of a pet rat as well as a breeder. I usually feed my retirees off to the BCI, but Rupert has that specialness and I will keep him around until he is done living :)
I actually fed the split-capped one off. I am/was worried about the risks of megacolon and now just concentrate on solid/berk rats and PEW. But I have a few hoodeds too and I like them.
