I was between 8 and 10 I think. I could have been a little younger. I do remember the day though. I asked my mom, and she told me the truth. I was a little p.o. ed to say the least. More so that she was lieing to me for all those years, than they fact that he wasn't real lol.

Its nice having kids now, you still get to experience the magic of Christmas through them.

To me the excitement of Christmas morning is watching them go bonkers.

what? :tears: no santa,.. now how do I tell my kids. heh actually I dont remember what age I found out, but my oldest son, now age 10, believed until he was almost 9. Then he started putting 2 and 2 together.. and he asked us so we told him. But its nice while it lasts. I believe in the spirit of what Santa should represent.

I still believe in the spirit of Santa Claus - even have a nice wood carving over the door at Christmas that says "We believe in Santa" with a St. Nick.

We never actually did Santa at my house. My family (and grandparents, especially) is/are very Christian. I got gifts from the "Holy Spirit" "Baby Jesus" and from my family (hey, I'm not kidding!). I knew they were from my grandparents, labeled that way, of course...but it was just a part of my childhood.

I never missed the Santa experience ;)

Also, no Easter Bunny. We did look for eggs, but we also learned the Easter Story (resurrection of Christ). One year, grandma made a "tomb cake"--a cake shaped like a tomb, with different colored icing for the tomb, the stone (rolled away) and there was green coconut for grass around it :D

    I love my childhood :D

When I was about 4 I realized that there was no way Santa would use the same crappy wrapping paper my parents used. :O

Hahaha!! That's why I always hide the special Santa wrapping paper from my kids and only use that for Santa gifts!!!

I can't remember when I stopped believing. I do remember staying up all night with my sis that is about a year younger than me trying to listen out for sleigh bells though. Then we would wake up at 4 in the morning, go sneak a peak under the tree, and then try to wake our parents up at 4am to go open presents. They would pretty much laugh at us and say "Not until 6am". Those were the good old days!! :D Now it is great to be able to relive the whole Santa thing through my kids!! They get so excited around Christmas, although they won't go anywhere near Santa at the mall (so I am afraid that I am never gonna get those kids with Santa pics :(:().

i found out from a stinky boy in my second grade class. i asked my mom when i got home and she confirmed that he was correct.

personally, i think santa claus, the easter bunny and the tooth fairy are fairly horrid lies and i do not plan to perform the actions of these made up characters for my kids (when and if i have them). i just find it to be cruel and unnecessary. yes, my children will still get christmas presents, an easter basket and rewards for lost teeth, but those things will come from mom and dad, not a fake character.

I was 6, I found out through older kids at school, when I came back home I asked my mom who told me the truth.

It did not really bother me.

Actually, I was about 3-4. My mom woke me up one Christmas morning to see "Santa" putting presents under the tree. I ran up to him and he held me on his knee and was talking to me, and all of a sudden I told him "You have the same glasses as my daddy" He just stared at my mom and looked back and me and told me that him and my dad must shop at the same place. Then I said "You also have the same ring as my daddy" He just laughed and said that him and my dad went to the same school. I didn't believe him because I knew my dad's eyes, and his eyes kinda started to water so I just left it alone. I remember his eyes still. I wasn't exactly positive, because I was young and still wanted to believe everything, but I didn't understand how someone else could have had the same eyes as my dad.

i was sevenish i think... there wasn't like one event where i said 'Ooooh!' there were plenty of clues... wrapping paper... presents in mom's room that were already tagged from santa... every christmas eve night we went for a drive looking at all the christmas lights in seattle. we'd usually swing back to my gramma's block a few times but we were never allowed to go in untill the porch light came on- that meant santa had come! plus that was usually around 8 or 9 and according to legend, santa comes at midnight! i didn't really care much, but i thought i was one up on my big sis cuz she still believed! :D

lmao! one year my uncle came in as santa and my lil brother, mikey would not go anywhere near him! it was so hilarious! i think he was 3 at the time... santa pulled a train set outta his bag that mikey had been begging for, so mikey crept up to santa, snatched the toy and ran! haha!

    Re: What age were you?
I seriously cannot remember how young I was...but it was pretty young. I didn't mind one bit, cause I'd never fully believed in it all anyway. I even helped wrap presents as a kid (not my own of course).
But, the fun and spirit lasted years upon years because my younger brother (moderately mentally retarded) NEVER stopped believing...even if you tried to tell him! :) I think he may have finally stopped when he was about 20. But it was really cute, seeing him get so excited over Easter and Christmas. The only thing I didn't like was that he would wake me up around 4am to go lay out on the couch waiting for our parents.

I was 6 the youngest of 8 kids. So I over heard one of my brothers and sister talking about helping mom and dad put the stuff under the tree. I then weant and asked my dad if santa was real. He said John, Do you really think there is a giant rabbit hoping around from house to house? I guess he killed 2 birds with one stone LOL!!
