Re: Bloody feeding *graphic*
HOLY COW MAN ive seen that from a corn snake feeding but never a bp
Re: Bloody feeding *graphic*
My carpet did that once - but in the water dish. When he was finished the small litter box was filled with red water.
After he was done, the residual scent drove him crazy and he searched the dish for about half an hour by repeatedly diving his head in and out of the water.

He did that his last feeding. I just changed his water, throw a rat in and he kills it in the waterbowl so I had to clean his waterbowl twice that day...
Re: Bloody feeding *graphic*

This statement boggles my mind. Boids just seem so much stronger than colubroids in general. I would have never expected a corn to pull it off. Of course, my only colubroid is a little corn snake only 18" long. :)
Re: Bloody feeding *graphic*
yeah that happend to me the other day. i was thawing out a fuzzy for Ali and i forgot to turn the water off. so it pushed the mouse down to the bottom of the container of HOT HOT HOT water and it was pinned. i came back in one min and there was a gnarly whole in the stomach of the mouse. you could see inside of the mouse completely. it was super gross. but Ali being the best feeder i have ever had ate it with no hesitaton!
Re: Bloody feeding *graphic*
yea my corn is about 4 and a half foot maybe 5 hes full grown albino corn that i rescued and when he eat he coils his whole body around the prey and squeezed ive seen it to where the eyes actually popped out of the socket. its fun to watch if you dont have a squemish stomach

So maybe it is time to learn...what is the difference...what are they Boids and Colubroids.
Re: Bloody feeding *graphic*
corns are colubrids though they do constrict. ball pythons and your boas are part of the boid family

I see so they're more slender but they can put on more coils to make up for it.

No, he changed it twice that day. He had JUST changed the water, fed the rat and it bled into the water, so he had to change it twice that day.
Re: Bloody feeding *graphic*
Ouch that must have hurt a lil!
You must have a very strong squeezer!

Thanks for clarifying that.
Re: Bloody feeding *graphic*
what we have here is a failure to communicate! lol my bad i thought u meant he made a bloody mess last week in his waterbowl and then waited until this week to change it. then fed him and had to change it again.
Re: Bloody feeding *graphic*
yea my corn will coil about 6 or 7 times
Re: Bloody feeding *graphic*
mine doesn't strike or coil. well ok once he struck because i was teasing him with it a bit trying to entice him to crawl to a bedding free area to eat. Usually he just takes his pinkie and swallows it. Sometimes he holds it sideways in his mouth and waves it around like a dog playing with a huge bone.
One time I tried to feed him a live pinkie just to see what would happen. It was hilarious at first because he had no idea what to do when his food actually moved. Eventually instinct kind of kicked in and he tried to constrict it while simultaneously trying to swallow it. Except he messed up the constriction and got his own neck inside the coils. I could almost imagine him going "Wait, no, that's not right. Dang!" Then he gave up and swallowed the pinkie live which I found far more disturbing than any live feed for some reason.
He's such a dork - lovable dork though.
