i couldnt tell the difference between them when we first got them but here are a couple old pics (the day they came home) to give you an idea of how much they have changed... sadly they didnt keep that deep green but they are still nice looking when they are fired up, just not as vibrant

they look great! the fact that they lost their original green really doesn't mean anything at all. all cresteds go through a dull stage once they lose their hatchling color. the real test will be 3-4+ months from now when they start to gain their adult coloration. i bet they will start to darken and brighten at that point--to what color i don't know but it will certainly be interesting to see. :)

they grow kinda slow at first, but wait until they get to about 10 grams or so--suddenly they will be 20 and then 30 and you'll wonder where that little 5 gram beebie went. :P

his color might or might not stay as it is now, it just depends. sometimes cresteds show what is close to their adult coloration as early as 2 months or so but sometimes it can take up to a year before they develop their adult coloration (this is especially the case with red harleys and creamsicles). some of that depends on the color--for instance, i have a few dark harleys that were dark harleys pretty much right out of the egg but they dulled down for a few months and then darkened back up--it was really just the intensity of the color that changed a little but i pretty much knew how they were going to turn out. then i have a few others that are a few months older than those that i still can't guess on because they keep changing. cresteds can be tricky. :P

ok, good to know.. approx how long does it take (from 4g) before they finally bulk up?.. I know Trick and Traid have some time but goodness its like they grow so slow lol.. Is there anything I can give them to help grow a bit besides crickets or am I pretty much good with the cgd

Re: remember the babies, trick and traid (new pics!)
the first few months they seem to grow more slowly because one gram accounts for a lot for a gecko that only weighs 4 grams to start with. by the time they are 20 grams 1 gram doesn't really account for much and they can fluctuate by a gram or two by just being on a full or empty stomach.

crickets, phoenix worms and roaches will all make them grow a little faster than a diet of solely cgd, but they aren't necessary if you choose not to feed insects. cresteds don't really bulk up or start to get that filled out crestie look until they near adulthood, and some males never really bulk up but are more long and lean.
