Can you show pictures of their setup? I am interested in seeing what you've got them in.

Re: photos that wont happen again im sure!! (retf)
Certainly.. right now they are in a 10gallon "live" tank (with a couple faux till the live plants get bigger...it has several different species of live plants, including a type of ivy, philidundrum and a couple others (forgot their name)
here is the most recent pic

I do plan to upgrade them into a much larger tank (And perhaps add a couple more since i know i can keep them alive) around the end of the month

Re: photos that wont happen again im sure!! (retf)
Nice looking viv. you got going there! Do you have any special lighting for the plants since some are alive, do you use a UV light? Also is that (the UV Light) needed from the frog?

Re: photos that wont happen again im sure!! (retf)
I actually have the tank near my sliding glass door where i can turn the blinds one way and have them shine into the tank. I also use a 60watt regular house bulb to keep their temps up high enough during the day (aids in day/night seperation too) since our home can get pretty cool at times
Because they are nocturnal UV lighting isnt nessesary (From what i understand) opening the blinds has helped in keeping the plants alive since all the plants in the tank have "low" light requirements. Believe it or not they are alot easier to keep than I thought they would be. I very literally planted the plants in the bottom of the tank using organic soil (no chemicals like miracle grow) and placed moss over the top of that (no real reason besides aiding with humidity because the soil was drying out if not misted/watered every day) I had to rinse/rub the plants VERY WELL, the stems and individual leaves included to make sure they werent sprayed with any pesticides. I also use spring water when watering the plants and filling the shallow water dish. So once I got all that in order and temps stabilized for about a week or so the frogs moved in and i havnt had any problems.. the suggestion from Emily (medelee? possibly spelled wrong) to train them to use a food dish was also a great suggestion. I clip the cricket legs off and place them in a dish large enough for the frogs to jump into but big enough the legless crickets cant escape, this way of feeding has worked flawlessly!

Re: photos that wont happen again im sure!! (retf)
Cut the legs off of crickets!!! :::shivers::: I don't think I can do that.... lol.
-
Re: photos that wont happen again im sure!! (retf)
I didnt think i could either.. but the first week or so of setting the crickets in the enclosure i didnt know if the frogs were eating and also know that ants are attracted to the dead crickets and i didnt want an ant problem either.. so an easy way to be sure they are eating and *how* much they are eating thats what i had to do... the first time i was a bit shaky handed feeling horrible for clipping the legs off but now that ive done it a couple times its not so bad.. i grab them with a pair of tweezers and clip one leg with nail clippers.. i try to keep it quick so they dont have as much trama lol.. but both ways are possible. (Setting them loose in cage or leaving them in a dish)
